Divided they stood, under one just cause. Saionji now stood shoulder to shoulder with the brothers Inoshishi and Hattori. The three human warriors radiated mana to a nearly reckless degree, but the dire situation called for dire strategies. Still channeling her power into her magic, Saionji's arms swirled with gales of emerald-green wind, and she lunged out at an incoming tendril of grafted flesh. Raw Wind magic exploded out, her throat sore. Considering her circumstances, she now looked around at the battlefield they had created.
"On your toes. Even if they're thinning out, it's still dangerous." She called out, only to unleash an emerald green slash which soared through the air and overhead, fanning out and chopping an overhead tendril of grafted flesh clean off.
Both Inoshishi and Hattori turned to attention, homing in on the incoming mass of rotted skin and bone and beginning to twirl their spears between their fingers. "Twin..." Inoshishi shouted, flames manifesting in a ring around his spear, rising up from his hands and climbing up the polearm to the very tip, where it spewed only an inch or so further. "... Vortex!" Hattori shouted, expelling a saw blade of Wind magic, followed promptly by his brother's own attack. Forming an interlocking 'X' shape, the two discs spun both together and separated, exploding on contact with the tendril and sending bits of viscera every which way.
"Saiji, we've got your back." The brothers said simultaneously, nodding to the girl before manifesting their mana on their weapons once more.
Saionji nodded in return, then began to focus a particularly large charge of mana into her sword, one which overflowed from the chimera bone-steel blade and down her arm, flowing like the tail of a traditional Chinese dragon. Her eyes glistened with clarity, and her dedication to the men fighting beside her showed true. "Right! Then I'll support you both as well..." She replied.
"Hyacinth...-!?" She called out her casting word, only to be thrown off her feet by a shuddering of the ground. Nearly falling to the ground, her spell dissipated, and as the tendrils seemed to begin receding in a sudden moment, an explosion rocked the opposite side of Nagoro. Black-crimson flames lit up the rainy midnight, and something which once drove a nail of fear deep into her heart now burned at her, an ember of motivation in her eyes.
"Gya-ha ha! That boy, Andrei, and that snow-hair! They found the bastard!" Okuri howled from his place on the field, where he continued to fight valiantly down to the last tendril, even going as far as chasing the final thing down to rip it from its place in the ground. "Now claim its head! We won't be far off, boy!" He howled, to a chant of war from his soldiers.
"Inu Clan, don't lose focus!" Big-Hat shouted, triggering Red-Claws' own ki aura to flare up once more. It wasn't often that his leader lost his composure, and that shout... it was something less than a command, more of a warning. He felt it then, a rumbling in the distinct pressure of his aura. Lunging to the side, he swept Cherry-Fang from her feet, and called out a warning to the other Swords, Merchants, and Bounty Hunters. "Incoming, get clear!"
Before long, an explosion rocked the ground, sending it upwards in a plume of debris and dirt. Something blotted out the moon, and as it came back into view, a horrible scream reverberated from across the whole of Nagoro's sky above them. Dove raised her crossbow and aimed down the sight of it, only seeing the blur of a shadow, twisted and gnarled. Stripped leathery wings, and a tail made of stitched flesh and bone. "What the hell...? Scatter, it's- It's coming down!" She shouted, fear striking her previously unphased figure down, replacing it with something more akin to a fearful child.
Inoshsihi and Hattori watched as the moonlight bathed over Nagoro once more, their eyes wide with fear. Dove's distant words echoed in their heads for a moment, until only the screams of a million damned creatures reverberated back. It was no longer one overhead noise, but a conglomerate of hundreds, thousands surrounding them. The eyes in the tendrils, they looked down, and the dismembered limbs looked back. "Shit- Saiji, can it and run!"
