Stumbling as she escaped a burst of her own emerald green mana, Suzuko's daggers spun between her fingertips, glinting the sunlight as she evaded a bolt of black-blue energy coming straight towards her. On her back was a half-zipped backpack holding a shaken Phanes, the large orange cat weighing the girl down as she bolted forwards once more. Leaping up, her boots kicked up tree bark as she leapt again, evading yet another bolt.

"Yipe-! Kitty, we gotta' run... quicker!" The masked cat-girl shrieked as the distinctly different storm overhead continued to rumble, now idle, but still very much present.

In another flash of emerald light, she vanished right in time to avoid another strike of burning chimeric lightning. Appearing once more on the ground, her satchel shook, and Phanes yowled indignantly as she continued to run.

Now revealing itself, Suzuko's attacker was thrown into a complete frenzy. Its roar echoed through the mountainous valley, and a blur of grey fur appeared beside the girl in an instant. Claws slashed at the air as she weaved attacks, some of them fast enough to require a repelling with her fang-like daggers. Soon, the ears she hid under her hood were caught in a slash, the very air from her opponent's attacks cutting open fabric before steel claws cleaved part-way through one, sending blood spraying as a resonating burst of wind snapped the satchel clean off her back.

The gemstone eyes in her mask gleamed with a bloody red as her own viscous crimson blurred her vision. Wincing beneath the unbreakable shield on her face, she sent a burst of wind backwards, sending Phanes into a bush, hidden. "Stay back Kitty, just..." She brandished her daggers, and took an offensive stance as she stumbled back. "... Just believe in me! I'll get us outta' here, I promise-!"

Now, Suzuko Orio stood before a threat unfamiliar to her, though if her companions had been here, some of them might have been struck with a jolt of familiarity. Emerald green swirled around her, and she gritted her sharp, pointed teeth beneath her painted mask. "You heard me, right? You're just another of those monsters, ain't you?"

In an instant, the emerald green flared up, and she was flung forwards with a flurry of cuts against a barrage of beastial slashes. The sounds of blades on claws rang out through the valley forest, and clash after clash caught the light of the sun above them, though occasionally weaker due to the pitch dark clouds overhead. Suzuko's muscles screamed as the gap in strength between herself and her foe grew wider...

But she did not relent. Renewing her strength, the gems which stood in place of eyes flashed with a crimson red, and she felt the mana in her body flowing like adrenaline. Leaping between trees now, she began to gain speed, becoming nigh untraceable to the mere human eye. Though this beast, this Chimera, it was no mortal man.

Cleaving Wind slashes flayed the monster's flanks as it began to slow down, the muscles under its heaving fat beginning to tense up as a powerful shift in the aura surrounding the area began to change. Eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty red, and its claws began to lengthen, black energy seeping out from the ruptured bases of its nails, enveloping its arms as Suzuko continued to cut away like a hurricane of all-encompassing blades.

Finally, Suzuko's barrage was stopped by a single deft movement, and the leaves which the girl had rustled up from the trees surrounding her were cleaved in half as claws caught daggers. Turning to face her, the demon of a Chimera, now enveloped in blackish energy from its hands to part way beyond its shoulders, with inky black replacing the whites of its eyes and meeting the reds of its pupils, locked those very eyes with Suzuko's, and her mask, unbreakable as it was, felt pierced in that moment.

"I-... Kitty, I..." She stuttered as a dozen things inside her body shifted and cracked, and from beneath her mask, Suzuko spat blood. "Shit..."

From someplace outside that clearing in the woods, Andrei's ears twitched, and he locked eyes with Alpha, his sword being drawn in that very same instant. "Alpha-! Was that...?" He seemed tense, and his stance reflected that.
