first person pov—

My eyes opened only to see more darkness. I winced and held my head, experiencing a splitting headache. "Dammit." I uttered, massaging my temples to sooth the pain. I sat up from lying on the ground, though the ground matched my surroundings: darkness.

"Where the hell am I?" I asked aloud.

"In your head."

My attention snapped over to the origin of the voice, and my eyes widened upon my eyes laying on a familiar pale blonde. "It's a bit dark in here if you ask me. Though I suppose it is fitting for the kind of person you are." She insulted.

"Meave?" I whispered in disbelief.

She cackled, a wild look in her yellow eyes. "Miss me Angel?!?" She cried out crazily, her sharpened teeth on full display as she smiled widely.

"What are you doing here? Why are we in my head? How.. How did you escape from the Demon King?" I questioned, a bit confused and lost. The last thing I could remember was escaping purgatory.

"I didn't. Let's just say I was preoccupying the free space in here whilst it was available." She cheekily answers with a half hearted shoulder shrug.

My brows furrowed until a look of disbelief washed over my features when I realized what she meant. "You took over my body? Why would you—?"

She cut me off, her cynical smile faltering, "Are you seriously asking me that?" She asks, her tone dangerously low and flat, as if I asked the dumbest question in the world.

Meave steps closer to me, "You are the Salina Drake. A demoness with powers that rival the Supreme Deity and Demon King themselves. Not to mention, you're mated to—not one—but both of the demon princes. Who wouldn't want to take over your life? It's absolutely perfect.." She spat venomously.

I scoffed, "Is that what you think?"

Bright red lightning crackled like pop rocks around my body, anger boiling beneath my heated skin.

Meave stepped back when I stared directly in her yellow eyes. "My parents were taken from me by the same man who took me in and now wants me to marry him, the very man who blocked my mate bond because he believed it to be an inconvenience. I was put into a cursed slumber because I was expressing an emotion that the king saw as a weakness. I was forced into a comatose state while having to relive all of my kills from the holy war for three thousand years!! I didn't even know of my true origins until my death. I've had to live with the questionable love for two men whom despise each other so much that they've tried killing one another, not knowing we were mated our entire lives." I breathed out in one go, though I wasn't finished yet.
