"I won't do anything to you. It's a pity that you Gryffindors all suck at occlumency. Otherwise I could tell you a little more to get you talking. Anyway, I will take care that Draco can be back here with you each weekend. But if I see anything worse than an exceed expectation from either of you, I will end this arrangement, do you understand me?" Severus Snape said, almost friendly.

Hermione scoffed.

"Yeah, right. As if I was pleased with an 'exceed expectations'. Just tell me, I have my own ways of keeping things to myself."

Now it was the professor who laughed.

"I can read you like an open book without even trying legilimency. How do you think you can hide anything from the dark lord himself?"

Hermione shrugged.

"I..."

"You?" Snape pried snidely. The girl swallowed and took a deep, heaving breath, trying to not let him notice the sob that slipped her throat.

The teacher sighed and sat down on the bed next to her, clumsily placing one hand on her shoulder.

"Forgive me, I didn't mean to make you cry. I remember the times when Narcissa was pregnant with Draco. She was very emotional too. I think it's for the best if I leave you now so you can say your goodbyes. I'll be back in about an hour and I'll be taking him with me to Hogwards. There might be a chance for the two of you to spend more time with each other in my office if you came for a visit via the floo network. But don't even dare to come without an invitation or at least an hour before notice. Do you understand me?" He told her.

"Why?" Hermione wondered. "Why are you so sweet and friendly all of a sudden?"

"Draco is my Godson. I care for him. And if he's in love with you, no matter how much of a know-it-all you are, I am supportive."

"That sounds made up. What's the real reason?"

"Maybe you'll see one day. If not, well then I guess you weren't supposed to know. But if things are going to progress the way they are right now... I can't say anything else. I hear Draco returning. Don't tell him that I asked about Potter."

When the door was pushed open, Snape was still sitting next to the girl and the boy's jaw dropped.

"Shut your mouth, Draco. I am trying my best here. So please, do whatever you want to do to say goodbye. I'll be back in fifty-four minutes to accompany you to Hogwards."

With that he stood up and left the room, his steps echoing from the large hallway back to them.

Malfoy looked at his fiancee and frowned.

"Was he mean to you? You've been crying."

Hermione laughed and shook her head.

"He even tried to comfort me when I started to cry and apologised for causing it. I've been crying over everything lately if you think back. Nothing special at the moment. So it's also no reason to get angry at him. I asked him why he's being so friendly all of a sudden and he said, he's trying to be supportive because you're his godson and he cares about you."

Draco took a deep breath. Then he laid his arms around her and made her lie back on the mattress.

"If I have to leave in less than an hour, I want to hold you close all of the time. I will miss you so much, Hermione." He cooed.

With tears running down her cheeks, the girl told him about Snape's offer to let her use the floo network.

"Wow, that's wonderful. We can use our rings to communicate when I can sneak out of the common room and into his office to see you. Who would have thought him to be so supportive when it comes to not only a muggle born Gryffindor, but on top of that, the best friend of the person he hates most in the whole world." Malfoy replied.

Hermione sighed, then pressed herself tighter against him, whispering.

"I have one last wish, Draco. Let's stop talking and... uhm... I really would like to, you know, do something more pleasant right now. Who can tell when we'll have the next opportunity?"

The young man smiled at her, then hummed.

"Well, considering that we're kinda married, it would be very appropriate to do so. And thank you for not getting angry because I didn't tell you that having this kind of ceremony, with my family as witnesses and with the spells we spoke, equals a real wedding. At least if one of the couple is a member of the sacred twenty-eight."

"So we really are legally married? Like, well... I don't know... you were related to Sirius, so if Harry and Ron could make it back to Grimmauld Place 12 they would be able to see my name next to yours on the tapestry that holds his family tree? Or everybody else who enters this house? Shit, that's why Snape knew. When Yaxley grabbed me and I brought him to the doormat, he wasn't able to tell anyone, because he wasn't one of the secret keepers. But Snape can come and go as he pleases. But if Yaxley went in that room and saw... I mean, what will happen to your family if everybody knows about us?"

"I don't care. And I agree with you. Let's not spend our last minutes together talking about those things. Let me rather do that."

And with those words he leaned in to kiss her, taste her lips once more to have something to remember in the night when he would be in Hogwarts, in the Slytherin common room, where he hopefully would get into his dorm without Parkinson or Greengrass, the older one, clinging on to him in an instant. He wasn't exactly looking forward to hearing Crabbe, Goyle, Zabini and Nott snore either, but at least they would leave him alone most of the time. And he could use a silencing spell to shut their voices out.
