Chapter 10: Happy Ending

Four weeks after Sonic was freed from Fleetway's control, he started living inside Tails's workshop in Green Hills. He's a lot more cheerful and social now that he's freed from Fleetway.

Those four weeks were peaceful for Sonic. No Eggman, no villains, no crime, no Fleetway yapping in the back of his ear, annoying him to his limits...

Wait, no Fleetway?

Sonic realized this as he woke up to the sound of the alarm. He rubbed his eyes as he got out of the bed. Tails was already awake, so it seemed. "Hey, Sonic!" He greeted once the blue blur came in. "Hi, Tails." He responded, waving at him.

Tails thought something was wrong. "Sonic, is something wrong? You seem a bit tense." asked Tails. "It's just..." sighed Sonic. "It's about Fleetway. He's been so quiet ever since you've freed me. And Fleetway being quiet scares me."

"Why are you worried about him?" questioned Tails. "If he's sick, I'm sick. If he's hurt, I'm hurt. If something's wrong with him, something's wrong with me. Kinda the same person type thing." explained Sonic.

Tails nodded. "I'll do a scan of you and see if Fleetway's okay," responded Tails. "Thanks," replied Sonic. Tails scanned Sonic and found something alarming— Fleetway's gone!

"Sonic, Fleetway left your body..." revealed Tails bafflingly. Sonic was shocked. "WHAT?! But if we're separate, we'll both die, and this has been going on for four weeks. And—" panicked Sonic before getting interrupted by Tails's phone.

"Hold that thought, Lemme get this." Tails looked at Sonic after a few seconds. "It's for you."

Sonic grabbed the phone. Someone was crying, joyfully, not sadly. Sonic recognized the person. "Ebony?! What happened?!" He asked. What she said next shocked him to his core:

"Super!! It's Super! Sonic, Super's back!"

Sonic froze. He knew that Fleetway and Ebony were close friends. Ebony got him to reform while he lost his memory and his evil powers. If he's back, then that means Fleetway is good again!

"Put Him. On The Phone. Now." He demanded sternly. After a few minutes, he heard Fleetway's voice. "Hey Sonic," He greeted. A lot more calm and gentle then Sonic last saw him. "Yo, Super. How did you...?" asked Sonic.

"I... dunno. As far as I remember, you were freed by those three friends of yours from my control, I woke up in the center of the forest, after four weeks I found Ebony, and she called you." explained Fleetway.

"Well, all's well that ends well, I guess. You better not hurt anyone." said Sonic. "I won't, I swear it! I'm not evil anymore." promised Fleetway.

"Well, it'll take me some time to forgive you, Fleetway. After all, you forced me to isolate myself, away from any family and any friends that may have wanted to be there for me," Sonic glanced at Tails. "Understood?"

"Of course, Sonic! Take all the time you need. I'll be patient." said Fleetway. "Ehh, we both know that's a big fat lie," joked Sonic. "True." agreed Fleetway, chuckling in amusement. Sonic hang up on Fleetway and Ebony.

"So?" asked Tails. "Super's good now," right after saying that Sonic shuddered. "That wasn't a pleasant thing to say..." he admitted quietly. "Well, all's well that ends well," said Tails, turning to one of his inventions.

Sonic nodded happily in agreement, smiling brightly. "Agreed, little bro. Agreed." agreed Sonic. Tails smiled back at Sonic and they share a quiet moment together. At least Fleetway's good and everything and everyone is back to normal...

Right?

Very deep in Sonic's mind, someone was sitting on his throne looking above all others, seeing through Sonic's eyes. He nearly vomited at how kind Sonic was to the little runt. "Mph... Fleetway turned..." he hummed, displeased.

He thought turning the super form evil would cause them to succeed. But apparently not, Fleetway was naive enough to turn back to the boring Fleetway he was before. Looks like he has to reveal himself to Sonic... to take matters into his own hands...

He stood up from his throne causing his followers to jerk their heads upwards. "Sonic...let's see if this will make you tick..." he said, evilly grinning at bloody hedgehogs resembling Sonia, Manic, and Sonic's uncle, Chuck.

"No. We won't allow you to hurt our little brother. He's gone through so much pain already..." The magenta one said. "Don't worry Sonia... this'll be quick." He assured. "Do your part, and I'll set you free and you'll be together with Sonic again. I promise." He promised maniacally.

The green one grabbed Sonia's arm. "What are you going to do with him?" asked the light blue one. "None of your concern, Charles." He walked up back to his throne, all three bloody hedgehogs looking down at the ground sadly, having no choice but to obey.

"I. AM. GOD."
