CHAPTER 15

I don't know what to feel at this moment. I was feeling something different earlier but it changed when I stepped inside of this house. I was wondering how I ended up like this when I was all smiles leaving that mall.

Everyone's here.  I got so scared when I saw the look of Mommy La when I entered the living room, so I told myself to not look again, except if needed. Pero ang mas nakakatakot ay ang mga mata nilang hindi ko malaman kung anong ipinaparating. Marami. Disappointment, anger, pity, confusion, and pain. I saw daddy shaking his head before looking at my mom who was staring at the floor.

Naroon silang lahat, mommy la, auntie Janna, Chelsea, mommy, daddy, even Niko and Fourth were there. Tiningnan ako ni Chelsea bago lumapit sa aking bunsong kapatid. Fourth was playing with his iPad when Chelsea approached him, ngumiti siya nang makitang gustong makipaglaro sa kanya si Chelsea.

"Halika rito, hija."

My breath hitched when I heard daddy. Tinapik niya ang upuan sa kanyang tabi. Lumapit ako nang nakayuko.

"Daddy," he kissed my temple before putting his arms around my shoulder. I glanced at mommy and I saw the worry in her eyes. Ibinalik ko ang tingin sa ibaba, I played with my fingers as daddy started to talk to mommy la.

"Let her speak first, Mama."

My mind was starting to go back at the words mommy la had mentioned in our last argument.

"You can get out of this house only on school days. Pedro will be your new driver. At bawal ka nang pumunta sa Southern Leyte or else I will confiscate your cards..."

What if hindi na talaga ako makakalabas ng bahay? What if she will isolate me in this house my entire life? I will be home schooled, I can't see Klent anymore, I can't visit SB and Cashmere anymore, and...

"What for?" Aunt Janna answered.

"Janna, please let my daughter speak first–" Mommy was cut off when Mommy La shut her up.

"Amelia, please shut your mouth." My heart pounded really hard when I heard mommy la's calm voice. I feel sorry for mommy because I just feel that I'm the one to talk to her first. Nanatili akong nakayuko dahil ayokong makita ang nasa mga mata niya. I played with my fingers trying to distract myself.

"Mama, don't speak to her like that." Daddy stood up, mommy scooted over and put her hand on my back.

She lifted my head to meet hers. She whispered, "Tancia, 'wag ka matakot, okay? You just have to explain yourself–"

"Explain what exactly, mom? I just went outside, I told manang Flor I'll be out and will come home before dinner, anong parte ba ang i-explain ko?" I looked at daddy's back who was talking in front of mommy la and aunt Janna.

"Lalaki raw ang kasama mo–"

"Friend ko lang 'yon, my–"

"Well, your mommy la thinks he's not. Sweetheart, listen to me... I don't know how your mommy la got this information but she knew you were at the mall with that man–"

"Mommy–"

"Where does he live?"

I looked at her when she asked something that wouldn't matter. "What?"
