'And then he brought me here.' Avery sat cross-legged on the toadstool in the theater and told Lyria and Terence about her adventures with Peter. She may not have been able to do it as beautifully as Lyria with moving and glittering images, but both fairies had been listening with patience.

'That sounds like you've been through a lot in a short time,' Terrance blew out a breath. 'Captured by Jacob and made it out unscathed. You're a tough one.'

Avery laughed. 'That was only because Peter showed up on time,' she said honestly. 'To be honest, he was very close to feeding me to the fish.'

Lyria visibly shivered when she heard that. 'I would have never believe he hadn't been on time,' the fairy said, 'the boy is as loyal as a dog.'

'I got to know Peter through Tink,' Terence said, 'honestly I didn't like him at first - that whole arrogant attitude and everything, but with time I figured he has his heart in the right place. He even ended up taking me on an adventure, something Tink always looked forward to immensely.'

Avery chuckled. She did have a suspicion as to why Terence didn't like Peter so much. No boy liked it when the girl he was in love with often spent time with another boy. Even fairies apparently had love drama. 'I wonder where Peter is,' she said.

'Aren't we fun enough?' Terance crossed his arms and looked at her with a raised eyebrow. He winked at her when she looked at him shocked. 'Oh, no, it really isn't like that,' she replied, 'but normally he doesn't leave my side for long.'

The two elves exchanged a much meant look. 'Sounds like l'amor  to me.'

Avery shook her head decisively, but the damage was already done. Lyria giggled softly. 'Oh sweety, it doesn't matter! That boy is a dream,' Lyria said with a sigh. 'It's that he's human.'

Terence chuckled behind his fist until Lyria gave him a shove. 'You don't get to say anything at all. You know how to hide it even worse.' She turned to Avery again. 'But you said you tell stories, too?' she asked fondly, and Avery nodded. 'I write them, too, although they're not very good.'

Lyria grabbed her hand. 'I'd be honored if you'd let me read them something.' Avery's heart fluttered in her chest. The feeling that moved through her body was indescribable. As if all her limbs were telling her that she and Lyria had a connection. It felt like she had found a lost sister. For the first time in her life, she felt truly understood.

'Avery?'

The three turned their attention to the entrance of the Theater.  Peter stepped inside with next to him  a petite fairy with firery red hair. He wore large glasses that took up almost half his face and made his eyes as big as saucers. 'This is Bobble,' Peter said, 'he's one of Tink's friends and colleagues.'

Bobble made a short bow. 'Fairy Mary has granted you permission to stay at Miss Bell's cottage until a decision is made.' His voice sounded crackly Irish.

Avery looked at Peter. Sleeping in Tink's cottage? She wasn't sure what to make of that. It sounded a little ill-mannered, disrespectful to her.

'If that's the case I'll go ask Zelena for some more Shrink Dust.' Terence stood up and flew away.

'Have you been sitting here all afternoon? It's almost dark out,' Peter said. 'I've been looking for you.' His gaze went to Lyria. 'I don't think we know each other.'

'I'm Lyria. Terence introduced us to each other. Avery is the child from whose smile I was born.'

Bobble looked at Avery and Lyria absent-mindedly. 'Fascinating. How did you guys find out?'

'We didn't know that,' Avery explained, telling them about Lyria's wings.

'That does indeed sound like you are destined,' Peter said. 'How great of me for bringing you here,' he said proudly, and Avery rolled her eyes as she gave him a gentle nudge. 'You are in one word terrible, Pan.' She looked sideways at Bobble and suddenly an idea popped into her head. 'Bobble, can I ask you for a favor?' she asked.

The red-haired fairy turned purple and nodded hastily. 'But of course!'

Avery pulled out the pocket watch. The cover hung from its hinge and squeaked softly. She handed it to him. 'Can you fix this?'

'This is a lost thingy,' he said, inspecting it. 'I'll see what I can do, but usually this is Miss Bell's department.'

'Try it, please.'

Bobble nodded and put the lost thingy in his pocket.

Peter held up his hand. 'Would you excuse us, Lyria. We'll leave for our sleeping quarters. Would you accompany us, Bobble?' He put an arm around Avery's waist, but Avery shook her head. He looked at her indignantly at first, and she laughed. 'Terence has been a bit naughty.' She rose from the ground.

Peter laughed. 'That Dust Keeper will be in trouble again if he keeps giving everyone extra fairy dust.'
