Picnic
I was busy being at peace with my book, chukling around when the female character makes 'pakipot' move towards the male character who's impatient. Rhi then started blabbering some nonsense.
Bigla siyang bumangon siya. "Saan ka bumili nito teh!?"
Shocked at her sudden movement, tinignan ko siya ng matagal bago makabawi at sumagot.
Binalik ko ang tingin sa aking libro, "Sa sinabi mong convenience store?" Patanong kong sagot.
She grinned, I looked at her only to see her eyes widened and mouth all open. Para bang may sinabi akong kamangha-mangha kaya sobrang saya niya. She then shouted acting all kilig. Umupo siya sa tapat ko. She then held my hand and looked at me desperately. I ignored here and continued reading.
"Ah! O. M. G. Cha! omg! Pogi 'di ba?" She said still holding my hand. "Balita ko sa isang kompanya raw iyon nagtatrabaho umuwi lang ngayon kasi nagbabakasyon."
"Hmm," I answered, uninterested with the topic.
kahit hindi ko nakikita ang kaniyang mukha alam kong inirapan niya ako. Kinuha iyong libro ko at linagay sa basket na katabi niya. "Ano kaba! Tumigil ka na nga dito sa mga boyfriend mo kuno na hindi buhay!" She sighed.
I looked at her now irritated. How dare she. "They are real in my heart tho."
She acted like crying, "Sa heart mo lang! Ito si kuyang cashier buhay na buhay! Humihinga! Bukod pa doon ang pogi pogi! At maganda ang katawan! Sa tingin ko'y sporty rin at matalino! Parang iyong mga nasa libro mo lang." Pagtutulak niya sa akin sa lalaking iyon.
"Bakit ba gustong gusto mo iyong lalaking iyon para sa'kin? Are you cousins or something?"
She looked shocked. "A-Ah hindi ah!" She sighed. "Gusto ko lang naman magkaboyfriend ka. To feel the love ganun. Mahal kita, alam mo yun pero enjoy your life naman, gagraduate na lang tayo sa college tapos isa lang iyong pinayagan mong landiin ka."
"Huy anong pinayagan? I didn't ah! Nagpumilit lang siya."
She looked pained, "Wow ha! Sabagay ikaw ba naman sabihang walang kwenta." Aniya at bahagyang tumawa.
Marahan ko siyang hinampas. "Hayaan mo na."
"Hmm." She said mocking me. I rolled my eyes. Tumawa naman siya.
Tama siya. All these years, may pinapatunayan ako sa mga magulang ko ngunit hindi nila iyong makita kita. Baka nakikita nga kaso hindi pinapahalagahan. I was blind to believe that they loved me because they said so. The reason why I study harder and harder because that's the only way for them to see me.
It broke my heart when I've realized that years ago. That time I was busy entertaining someone whom I think I love. Turns out I was just infatuated and I don't know my feelings towards him. I got distracted, and didn't know what to prioritize first.
One day, one of my professors told me that I wouldn't be in the dean list if I continued doing the things I do like zoning out in the middle of class that resulted in me not answer our recitations. That same night I got a text from that guy saying he wouldn't pursue me anymore that he just used me to pass the sem. More importantly, he wants us to separate and continue with our own lives.
My parents were devastated. Hindi nila ako pinapansin nung mga panahon na iyon. Mas lalong lumala noong nalaman nilang matatanggal ako as dean's lister. They wouldn't let me go out so I could study all the time. I did. Instead of crying over him inabala ko ang aking sarili sa makakapal na libro which leads me to be back on track. The track that they want.
It's all in the past now. So, I'm okay with it. My mind says.
"It's all in the past now, kaya okay lang. Ano?" My eyes widened as she said those words.
"You really know me,"
"You bet." She stood up and winked. "Tara na, punta tayo sa bahay then let's watch movie."
Tumango ako at tumayo na. We grabbed our things and put it back to where it was arranged a while ago. Our trash goes to the plastic that Rhi brought. As we pack, it started to rain. It wasn't really strong but Rhi's concerned with my health. Konting ambon lang kasi lalagnatin agad ako. We hurried and grabbed our things. My bag became lighter than usual which makes me wonder but Rhi is pulling me to the nearest house para makasilong agad kami.
Nang makarating kami sa bahay na iyon ay tinitigan ko ang kalangitan. It's not so dark but is loaded enough to make me sick. I was in awe when the rain starts pouring heavily it is as if the skies are taking his shit out on us.
I sighed. Tinignan ko si Rhi na ngayon ay nakatingin sa tapat naming na para bang may pinagmamasdan habang nakakunot ang kanyang noo. I on the other hand, didn't look towards what she's looking on. Instead, I just stared at her.
"Linandi mo ba itong si kuya cashier para sumunod sa'tin?" She said seriously.
"Huh? Who?" I said curiously. I lifted my head towards who this person that she's seeing and to my surprise it was the person whom I met earlier. "I-I, n-no?" it sounded like a question. God, I hate this.
Rhi then giggled. "Anong no?'" She said mocking me. "Landi mo gaga."
I shrugged whatever she's saying because I was focusing on him. A man who's wearing a white tight t-shirt which perfectly hugs his muscular body and a maong pants that I could tell is much expensive than my whole well-being. Seriously walking straight towards us holding an umbrella on his right hand with a basket on the other hand, from the look of it he's from the 'white house' backyard too. I was shocked seeing him here.
He lifted his gaze towards us. His ocean blue eyes scan over me like a craw to his predator. Feeling a bit uneasy I lifted my brow on him which causes him to smirked and walk faster towards us. My friend on the other hand watches our interaction which makes her chuckle and kilig like an overacting human she is.
"Hey there, Miss Bumper." He greeted me as soon as he went near us.
I nodded at him, "Hmm." Eyeing him.
Rhi coughed. Nabulunanan si gaga, "Landi mo, anong 'Miss Bumper' tangina!" She whispered. "May call sign na pala," She said eyeing me as I eye the person who just came.
He smirked. This man always smirks, huh. Nang makasilong siya sa bahay ay tinupi niya agad ang kaniyang payong. I watch him as he folds his non-automatic umbrella gently and puts it in his basket. He then looked at Rhi curiously. Probably wondering why this woman is as red as a tomato, giggling over and over again.
He then looked at me, "Forgot to introduce myself earlier at the store. I'm Liam," he said, voice came with passion as he extended his arm towards me.
"Ah!" sigaw ni Rhi. I looked at her worriedly pero binalewala niya lang ako at nagtatalon, hinahampas ako habang sinasabi ang dalawang salita na "kunin mo," ng paulit ulit. I looked at her at my right side and chuckled at her reaction. She looked like she's seeing some romantic film that make her go crazy like this. This silly girl, fantasizing about us.
