Jax lay in bed, tossing a ball against the ceiling of his bedroom with a bored expression on his face. "Man, I'm bored... I wish something fun would happen," he thought to himself. He leaned up and pulled out his phone, hoping for some entertainment to pass the time.

However, all he could see were his friends Ragatha, Gangle, and Kinger, whom he affectionately referred to as "dumb," hanging out with her equally clueless companions, "dumber" and "dumbest." They were out together and likely wouldn't be back anytime soon. Jax let out a disappointed sigh and tossed his phone aside.

As he continued to lay in bed, the sound of knocking suddenly caught his attention. "Hm? Don't tell me the landlord needs more money from me so he can go to the dentist," Jax muttered to himself as he begrudgingly got up and made his way to the door. "Seriously, his teeth are next to flawless," he thought as he turned the doorknob and pulled it open.

To his surprise, there stood a small girl with luggage bags by her side. "The heck? Who still plays that game? Knocking on someone's door and running..." Jax mumbled under his breath, assuming it was some kind of prank. However, the girl's frail voice caught his attention as she spoke, "Hello!"

Jax raised an eyebrow, looking down at the girl in front of him. "Uh, can I... help you?" he asked, unsure of why she was at his doorstep. The girl hesitated before replying, "N-no! B-but I... I was told that I'm your new roommate."

What? Look kid, I'm not gonna lie, this seems like a setup to catch a predator, and your height doesn't - Bzzt! His phone vibrated mid-sentence, making him pull his phone out. "Sorry buddy old pal! I forgot to tell you a week ago that you would be getting a roommate!"

Excuse me?

"You see, I figured you would like it since you are very social and kind. Everybody else has roommates, so it's fitting that you finally have one of your own."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude," the girl said.

"A little late for that... Heh, but I'm not complaining. But before we go any further, I need to see I.D. Nowadays women look younger and little kids look older."

"Gotcha."

The girl pulled out her wallet, and Jax leaned in close. "Lemme see... Pomni... Heh, 5 feet and 3 inches - Wait... You're 25!? Jax asked."

"That's right, wait, how old are you?" Pomni asked.

"I'm 22! Same age as this Wattpad writer here, heh loser! Wait, forgot he transitioned over to Ao3"

"Really? You're massive..." Pomni stated.

Jax chuckled as he leaned against the door. "Yeah, it does have its perks, squirt! Now come and bring your stuff in, Ms. Independent," he said as he walked inside. Pomni struggled to bring all of her stuff in.

10 minutes later, Pomni collapsed to the floor, breathing hard, as Jax continued talking on the phone. She struggled to catch her breath, her heart racing. Jax seemed unfazed by her distress, continuing his phone call without missing a beat.

"You know, I really gotta say, I never met someone who makes the wackiest ideas until I met you," Jax exclaimed. "Seriously, a person can get a roommate while renting out a room? I never thought I would ever be-"

"S-sir?" Pomni managed to interrupt, her voice weak. Jax finally turned his attention to her, noticing her on the floor. "What's the problem? You're dying or something?" he asked casually.

With a nonchalant demeanor, Jax lifted Pomni off the floor with a single hand and carried her to the bedroom. "Hey Caine! I'll insult you more later, I gotta give the noobie here some water," he shouted into the phone before hanging up and tossing Pomni onto the bed.

As Pomni lay on the bed, gasping for air, Jax instructed her to find water bottles underneath the bed before leaving the room. "Well, well, well, of all things, I have to live with a girl," Jax muttered to himself as he walked down the hallway. "I mean I'm not complaining, it's gotta be something I get used to. Heh, imma enjoy torturing her, and don't worry guys, I'll just be having fun with the kid- Okay! Let me not word it like that!"

As Pomni lay there, trying to regain her composure, she couldn't help but wonder what kind of roommate she had ended up with. Jax's cavalier attitude and lack of concern for her well-being left her feeling uneasy. She hoped she would be able to navigate this living situation without too much trouble.
