AFTER 1 YEAR
(Abhidnya is 19 years old, Adhavan is 22 years old)There was no news of Adhavan as if he was lost in the air. Abhidnya could not bring herself back to that careless self. That night, those teary orbs, choked voices brought a change in Abhidnya as well.
She started detaching herself from Vhavya. Studies became her best excuse. She would lock herself in the room and would be lost in his memories.
Every night she was haunted by those black orbs. His expressions had been pasted in her mind. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't forget it.
Gradually she started getting irritated with Vhavya. The talks which were funny are now irritating her to the core. The endless talks came to almost an end. The time which she liked to spend with Vhavya became intolerably suffocating for her. The bike rides which gave her a thrill now burned her soul just by thinking about it. Vhavya started looking meany and fake. She started revealing his true self but it is already late.
Everywhere, every time, in everything her heart desired only for her Abadhya. But alas! It's late enough to regret. The proverb 'It's never too late to mend' was not workable for her. It was beyond late for her repentance.
With the course of nature, human nature also changed. But the change could not bring any changes in their wrecked relationship.
ON ABHIDNYA'S 19th BIRTHDAY
Abhidnya was rolling on the bed, anticipating the consequences of her upcoming step. From the past 30 minutes, she has been opening her contact and caressing Adhavan's number but not daring to call him.
It's already 11.55pm now. Only 5 minutes left for her birthday. Suddenly she wants him to wish her. She wants to hear his voice. The clock is synchronously ticking with her heartbeat.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to control her overwhelmed emotions. 'Kabhi bhi, kisi bhi baat ki dikkat ho, then remember your Abadhya is here with you, standing right beside you, holding your hand, caressing your palm and loving your soul......... Tumhare rooh se mohabbat ho gayi hai Abhi, meri Jaan tumpe Marta hai Zinda rehne ke liye', Adhavan's velvety voice resounded in her mind.
A small shy smile appeared on her lips. She gulped and looked at the phone screen, only two minutes left for her birthday. She was about to press the number, but before the call could connect, Vhavya's name flashed on the screen.
She was agitated to receive his call. Tears appeared in her eyes. Only one minute is left for her birthday. She hastily cut Vhavya's call and dial Adhavan's number. But unfortunately her wish didn't come true. He didn't pick her call. She again dialed his number, the result was the same ignorance.
Call after call went unanswered. It was past twelve, but she didn't care. She just wanted to talk to him once, hear him once.
She dialed again and patiently waited. But when the computerized voice informed her about the call being not answered, a sob left her throat. She had no idea why, but she started crying. Her eyes went to the same corner where on that unfateful day, they both shared their last interactions. She genuinely regretted her actions, but her regret couldn't re-do the mishaps. She recalled the moment, how he was patient with her and how he hugged her and more tears started flowing from her eyes.
Ring! ring! ring!
Abhidnya quickly picked her phone, thinking It might be her Abadhya to call her back, but her smile and hope disappeared when she found that it was Vhavya who was calling her.
"Tsk", Abhidnya sighed and picked the call.
"What the fuck, Abhidnya? Pick up my damn call at once. It's your birthday but that doesn't mean I will tolerate such bratty behavior from you. Ruined my entire mood", Vhavya said and disconnected the call.
