Kyla had no idea who jumped her and to be honest, she didn't plan on figuring it out. But it would definitely be the last time she walked without someone with her. Thankfully, nobody figured it out and she was off the hook.

"Hey." Miguel smiled at Kyla, who was already at her desk. She looked up from her book to see Miguel and Demetri. "Hey guys." She smiled back, which they noticed, maybe her walk with Sam got her out of her funk. "By chance, do you guys have gum?"

Demetri reached into his pocket to pull out a package. "My hero!" She said as he handed her a strip.

After she put it in her mouth, her eyes moved to Sam, who was walking to her desk. She didn't think anything of it until she heard laughter.

Her smile faded as she saw a sucker stuck on Sam's shoulder. Kyla huffed as she got up, the boys eyes following her. Kyla carefully took the sucker off of the pink sweater. "Thanks." Sam said softly.

"Thanks for the blow pop, guys. Really never gets old." Sam told the class. They really knew how to hold onto rumors.

Kyla started to sit down next to Sam when the teacher came in. "Ms. Graham, that is not your seat."

"Just for to-"

"Back. To. Your. Seat."

Kyla rolled her eyes before going back to her original seat behind Demetri and Miguel. It was time for them to get in groups to dissect the fetal pigs. "Who would like to take Samantha in their group?" Their teacher asked.

"I will." Kyla raised her hand, ignoring the evil look from her partner. The teacher ignored her instead and placed her with Miguel and Demetri.

"That was rude." Kyla muttered under the breath, making Sam and Miguel chuckle. "Thanks." Sam whispered as she passed Kyla to get an extra stool. She didn't know what was going on in their relationship, if Kyla was just being petty or if somehow she forgave Sam but it was nice to have her cousin in her life again.

"Ew, I don't want to do this." Kyla's partner, Jessica, complained. "This is disgusting."

At lunch, Enzo was the first at the table, then Kyla. "Hey." She was the first to speak up.

"Hey." He responded.

Kyla took a deep breath, knowing that it was time for her to be the bigger person. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. After Jasper ghosted, I ended up finding where he works and I planned on visiting but I backed out. I think I rushed into it and I feel terrible. Apparently he's lived, or at least works close and I don't know. I don't know how to think or even respond. So, I'm sorry for taking it out on you. That wasn't fair." It seemed like the weight of the world was off of her chest and she could finally sit up straight.

Enzo nodded his head at her words. "I forgive you, and I also apologize for snapping at you. I shouldn't have done that. I think I was just mad that you wouldn't tell me or didn't trust me enough to tell, then you were best buds with Sam again. I don't know. I was just jealous."

"I forgive you." She told him. "And just know, I'm not replacing you or anything. Sam was just having a hard time, so was I and I think we just found peace in that, and I never told her anything." He nodded, it did make him feel better that he was still the first to know, or so he thought.

The two sat in silence for a few minutes while they waited for their friends. "Will you go with me?"

Enzo choked on his pizza at the sudden out burst. "What?"

She took a deep breath. "Will you go with me to Jaspers job?" Enzo furrowed his brows. "I thought you just said you weren't ready."

"Well I'm not, but I don't know when I ever will be. I just need an extra push and I can do it. That's what you do best."

--

Enzo will never understand how she talked him into this, especially since he never wanted to meet his bio family and they came looking for him and he didn't understand how Kyla could, but here he was, sitting in the parking lot of a coffee shop that Jasper worked at.

He turned his head to his sister. His sister, not Jaspers. As soon as he thought it, he regretted it. They were both kids when they got separated, it wasn't Jaspers fault. "You ready?"

Kyla looked at him. Her hand was starting to shake with anxiety, she tried to play with the holes in her jeans. "Not really." He took a deep breath and threw his seatbelt off. "Come on." Enzo stated before getting out of the car.

"We're just getting coffee. Just getting coffee." Kyla mumbled to herself trying to gaslight her mind. She quickly got out of the car and walked inside, Enzo right behind her.

"What can I get for you guys?" A barista asked once they reached the counter. Kyla just stood there, looking at her. Enzo nudged her in the shoulder. "Yes, sorry. I was wondering if Jasper was working today?"

The barista looked confused. Kyla pulled out her phone and showed her a picture of Jasper. She nodded then looked back to Kyla. "He quit about a year ago."

"Oh, okay. Thank you." Kyla said before walking back outside. Enzo walked closer to the display to talk to the older women. "By chance, do you know where he went after this?"

She shook her head. "No, but the way he left wasn't good. It was a big fit, like a toddler, he was screaming and throwing stuff. He threw a table through the window. So if you're trying to find him, be careful." He nodded at her words, already having a terrible feeling in his stomach. "Thank you." He said. Before he left, he put a ten dollar bill in the tip jar.
