They're chatting like they never did. And the fact that over 500 students are forced to be in one auditorium says enough that there's going to be a banger announcement.

Hee Young- the kdrama obsesser- exaggerated the topic like the North and South were declaring war and maybe we had to go perform duties. Girl thinks we live in 'Duty After School'

And then there's Min So- something about her is always too cliche- she had gone and stood on the podium of our class,
'Probably they're auditioning students for the industry...'

The rest of the crap she said went over my head because I was busy cringing at boys who gawked at her whenever she bulged her curves on purpose.

My over-dramatic best friend- who had called an ambulance when she got her first period in 7th grade- Da Eun, was absent.
Well, not exactly absent; her parents think she's attending today while in reality, she's at her boyfriend's.

Yes. And that's why I have to sit like a lonely grandma in the auditorium.

This is what it is- Yonsei University. One of the top universities in Korea they say.
I sometimes wonder why my mom got me admissioned here. Neither do I have the brains to cope nor do I have any ambition related to the university whatsoever.

And lemme give people outside the university who think so highly about it a reality check- this university is fucked up. At least for me.

Because no one cares if you study, shit, or even die.

But maybe, things will change today; after a year or something, the sheep are put together in the auditorium for an announcement.

Usually, I'm not particularly eager to sit at the start of the rows so am at the very ends of the stalls.
The teachers look like tiny ants, and I could crush them from here. Bigass auditorium it is no doubt.

The chatter and mumbles of the sheep silence when the principal walks over to the podium.
I don't remember his name for real. He's just square-faced, with red cheeks and a buzz-cut oldass principal pictured in my head.

The outsiders; lemme correct it- the 'followers' of Yonsei University treat our principal as the God of Gods. Like bruh, he's just a man chill.
I know that he has founded the thing but yet, it's overhyped.

"Lovely afternoon students of my Yonsei University," I forgot how much I hated his voice especially when he pressed on the 'my'.
I already know what he's gonna say next so the imitation naturally comes out-

"It's very pleasant to see your faces all together. I hope you have been engaging well and doing the best in your life because life is a race..." The girl next to me gives a soft giggle to my principle-coded speech-imitation.

"I don't understand why he says the same thing over and over every single time-"
I bend over and say to her uninterested in the principal's so-called motivational speech in the background.
She rolls her eyes in agreement.

A hush comes from behind and I turn to find my English teacher glaring at us.
That's a new thing, damn. Something's really cooking today.

I had seen many black cars and security around the premises in the morning too.
Plus half of the teachers' behaviour is very strict and formal today.
It makes me rethink the 'Duty After School' theory.
Maybe it's time to pay attention to Mr. Principal's words now to find out.

"...it has been almost a month now since the semesters have started. Most of you, I hope, are familiar with everything around you now. Now and then, the freshmen keep joining us in our journey of knowledge here at Yonsei University.

But today, I am so glad to introduce you to a very bright popular young man who will be joining us..."

"This all for just one freshman!?" The girl beside me remarks. True though. Many newbies keep joining, and so did I too.
But we never had the courtesy of a welcome.

"Students and teachers, let's welcome our new student of Yonsei University with a big round of applause and enthusiasm...
Lee Felix!"

And now, I swear to god- Yonsei University is totally fucked up.
