Forever Beside You

Part 9

Joong stopped the car in front of Dunk's house. Dunk was about to get out of the car but Joong grabbed his thigh and stopped him.

"Listen Dunk, I'm sorry for what happened earlier. " Joong said. He was so nervous that he didn't even realised that he was holding the steering wheel so tight.

"I know it feels like I am taking advantages from your pain. But I wanted to tell you that I have feelings for you for a long time Dunk. I can't see you in pain because of your unrequited love. Every time I see you cry, it breaks my heart Dunk. I am not asking for you to answer me yet. Just forget about Joke and be happy." Joong said.

All this while Joong was looking at Dunk. But Dunk was looking straight at the road. He didn't want to look at Joong. He didn't know how to face Joong or what to say to him. Dunk didn't know what he really feel about Joong. Few hours ago they were best friends. But now everything felt awkward around them. Dunk sighed before he talk to Joong.

"Joong, we were friends for the whole time. I really don't know what I'm feeling right now. I'm so confused. Please let's talk about this later." Dunk said. He gaze still didn't meet Joong's eyes. Joong closed his eyes and sighed. He understood what Dunk felt at the moment. So he nodded.

"Okay. Let's talk later. Go inside." Dunk nodded got off the car.

"Good night Joong." Dunk said before he closed the door.

"Good night Dunk."

Dunk waited at the door until Joong leave. Then he went inside the house. Dunk dropped onto his bed and closed his eyes. It was a very tiring night for him. He didn't expect a sudden confession from Joong. He felt like an idiot for not realising Joong's feelings towards him. When Dunk needed someone the most Joong was always there for him. He always thought of Joong as his best friend.

Lost in his thoughts, Dunk couldn't help but replay the events of the evening in his mind—the rooftop dance, the tender kiss, and Joong's heartfelt words of love. Each memory stirred a whirlwind of emotions within him, leaving him feeling both exhilarated and apprehensive. Dunk knew very well that, even though he promised Joong to talk later he would avoid Joong for a long time. Because at the moment he didn't know how to face Joong.

With a heavy heart Dunk got up from bed and got ready to sleep. His eyes fell on a wooden box that was near the foot of the bed. Dunk took it and opened to look inside.

There was a grey necklace inside the box and some old polaroid photos of him and Ayadin twins. The necklace had a letter J printed in the front. All the photos were taken from the same day. Dunk remembered the day clearly.

Flashback

It was the summer vacation and both Ayadin family and Boonprasert family decided to take their kids on a trip to the mountains. All three of them were so happy that they could go on a trip together.

First day they went on hiking. They all climbed the mountain and it was evening when they came to the top. They made their camp on top. They were supposed to go see the waterfall but it was night by the time they finish their camp.

"Guys, it's so late now. We can't go to the waterfall now." Mr.Ayadin said. Kids looked down sad. Specially Dunk. He was so eager to see the waterfall.

"It's okay honey. We can go see the waterfall tomorrow." Dunk's mother said reassuring Dunk.

"But if we go to the waterfall we can't go to the cliff." Dunk's father said. This time Joke's face fell sad.

"But I want to go to the cliff." Joke said.

"Okay, let's do this. Let's devide into two teams. One goes to the waterfall. And the other goes to the cliff." Mr Ayadin proposed and everyone agreed.
