Liliana
I avoided Dominic at all costs.
Last night after I told him to practically screw off he didn't give up but proceeded to bang on the door. When I didn't budge then the noise stopped and I felt relieved.
Relieved yet crumbled.I felt his presence on the other side of the door.
Heavy and demanding.
I couldn't get any sleep last night tossing and turning all the time. I stayed awake thinking and rethinking. That made me come to the conclusion and so here I am waiting for Kai to tell me the truth. However, the pretty boy is taking too much time in the bathroom.
I sigh getting up but halt when I hear the click sound. Talk about timing."Well, that was fast." I quip.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." He smirks.
I groan at how effortlessly he saw through me."I'm here to know the truth." I cross my hands over my chest and seize him up and down. He looks good. But his injured hand is supported by the arm pouch.
"Thought your husband took care of it." He jests squatting on the bed raising one perfect eyebrow.
At the mention of Dominic, my heart contracts painfully.
I clear my throat."He didn't. At least I know the attack was meant for me."
"And Victoria got kidnapped because of it." He throws the jab, this time he's serious.
"Also, you got shot," I murmur my eyes fixed on his arm pouch. He sighs raking his good hand through his newly grown hair.
Motioning to the wound he continues "This is nothing. But if something happens to her, "
"You think I want anyone to get hurt?" I cut him.
"But they did." He narrows his eyes at me. "Leading the demise of one."
"Well, thanks for the reminder and it will be better if we, I, stop everything."
"And how are you going to do that Wonder Woman? You don't even know the attacker."
I ignore the Wonder Woman comment.
"Right. I'll have to start digging my past."Kai glanced at me suspiciously. His steel grey eyes penetrated my soul. His gaze full of suspicion might be right if this was related to my past I had to take action.
"Look, I don't hate you. Whatever happened in the past was an accident and we all knew. Forget that you were the target. Amara could be a target too. We all are. Regardless, my sister was drunk and high. It was inevitable to stop the outcome when you try to control the vehicle and your friend wants to have fun. Nevertheless, if someone is after you we will protect you. But," he pauses looking me straight in the eyes and for a moment I get scared.
Because Kai is different when it comes to his people.
Especially Victoria."But none of the family members should get hurt. Got it." I complete his unspoken words.
"We knew the kidnapping was meant for you but unfortunately they had the wrong person."
"Victoria,"
He nods grimly."The attack was just a warning. That's what one of the men confessed."
"Why give a warning?"
"That's what we are trying to figure out."If they wanted me they could have taken me. They outnumbered us before our men came to the rescue. Then why didn't they?
Unless someone didn't want to.
But, who?"What are you thinking?" His eyes narrowed to slits focusing on me.
"Nothing." I shake my head getting up. "Thanks. Umm, I'll see you later."
"What's your plan?" He asked before I could exit the room.
"None." I simply answered my eyes boring hole in the door.He didn't respond but that didn't mean he wasn't thinking. He is Kai nothing got past him.
I arrive in my room squatting on my bed.
