Mumbai

The city was alive with its usual chaos—the honking of cabs, the distant roar of waves crashing at Marine Drive, and the hum of countless conversations blending into the fabric of everyday life. Shri looked out of the taxi window as they neared their destination, her heart fluttering with a mix of excitement and nervousness. She was finally moving in with riyan.

Riyan’s apartment. Their home.

She still couldn’t believe it.

"Tum itni serious kyun lag rahi ho?" Riyan teased, nudging her lightly.

Shri rolled her eyes, pretending to glare at him. "Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha ki mai excited rahu ya nervous. Naya ghar, and all , finally living with you ..."

Riyan reached for her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"Mere saath rehne wali ho tum, Shri. Matlab best life guaranteed."

She couldn't help but smile.

"Confidence dekho iska."

The taxi pulled up in front of the building—a tall, modern structure with glass windows reflecting the warm hues of the setting sun. Riyan paid the fare and grabbed their bags while Shri took a deep breath, stepping out onto the pavement.

"Welcome home, Mrs. Almost Riyan Parag," he said with a smirk.

Shri swatted his arm. "Zyada mat udho, abhi bhi officially Shri Rawat hoon."

Riyan chuckled. "Haan haan, sirf kuch mahino ki baat hai."

They stepped into the elevator, and as the doors closed, a comfortable silence settled between them. Shri leaned against Riyan’s shoulder, inhaling his familiar scent. The warmth of his presence made her nerves fade away.

The doors opened, and Riyan led her to his apartment—a spacious, sunlit place with a minimalist yet cozy aesthetic. The wooden flooring, cream-colored walls, and the large balcony overlooking the cityscape made it feel instantly welcoming.

Shri took a slow spin, taking it all in. "Ye ghar sach me tumhe suit karta hai, Riyan. Thoda messy, thoda chill, but cozy , I know I have been here before but it almost feels different now , you know"

Riyan grinned.

"Messy? Insult karne aayi ho kya?"

Before she could respond, he grabbed something from the couch and held it out to her. A stuffed bunny , almost the size of her torso, with round blue eyes and a tiny pink bow around its neck.

Shri gasped. "Riyan! Ye kitna cute hai!"

He shrugged, pretending to be nonchalant.
"Socha ki tumhe ek proper welcome gift dena chahiye. And you already know stuffed toys are my speciality so...."

Shri hugged the bunny tightly before launching herself at Riyan, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Tum na... unexpectedly sweet ho jate ho kabhi kabhi."

Riyan smirked, holding her close. "Bas kabhi kabhi?"

Shri pulled away just enough to look into his eyes. "Haan , Baaki time tum ekdum irritating ho"

Riyan laughed before leaning in, brushing a soft kiss against her forehead.

"Accha, ab andar chale? Ghar explore karlete hai , phir dinner order karte hain."

Shri nodded, following him inside. She peeked into the bedroom, taking in the soft, rumpled sheets and the faint scent of his cologne lingering in the air. It was strange, stepping into a space that was once solely his but would now be theirs and soon enough it will be their home.

She placed her bunny on the bed, smiling to herself. It already felt like home.

After dinner—pizza, because neither of them felt like cooking—they sat on the couch, watching Jab we met with their feet tangled together. Shri leaned her head against Riyan’s shoulder, feeling content.

"Ye na perfect night hai," she murmured.

Riyan turned his head slightly, brushing his lips against her temple. "Haan, bas ek cheez missing hai."

"Hmm?"

Before she could react, Riyan shifted, pinning her against the couch. His body hovered over hers, his hands resting on either side of her.

"Riyan!" Shri gasped, her cheeks heating up.

Riyan smirked, his fingers tracing slow circles on her waist. "Kya? Tumhe apne fiancé ke saath thoda quality time nahi spend karna?"

Shri bit her lip, trying to hold back a smile. "Tu na... bohot besharam hai."

"Sirf tere liye," he murmured before leaning down to kiss her.

The moment their lips met, a soft sigh escaped Shri’s lips. Riyan deepened the kiss, his hands sliding to her back, pulling her closer. Her fingers found his hair, tugging lightly as warmth spread through her body.

But just as his hands started to wander, Shri pulled back slightly, her breath uneven.

"Riyan..." she whispered, looking into his eyes.

He instantly sensed the shift in her mood and softened. "Kya hua, bunny"

She swallowed, her fingers playing with the hem of his shirt. "Mai... I want to wait."

Riyan blinked, then nodded slowly. "Wait for what?"

Shri hesitated before meeting his gaze. "Shaadi tak."

For a moment, there was silence. Then, to her surprise, Riyan smiled. Not a teasing smirk, not a disappointed frown—just a genuine, understanding smile.

"Shri, ye tumpe depend karta hai. Jab tak tum ready nahi ho, tab tak kuch bhi nahi hoga."

Relief flooded her chest. "Sach?"

Riyan pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "Of course, meri bunny. Main vo sab chizo ke bina bhi zinda reh sakta hoon, tumse bina pyaar kiye nahi."

Shri laughed, swatting his arm. "Ye line tum kisi Bollywood film se churake laye ho na?"

Riyan feigned innocence. "Bilkul bhi nahi. Pure originality hai."

Shri rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling. "Thanks, Riyan."

He pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on her head. "Tum meri life ka sabse important part ho, Shri. Tumhare comfort se zyada important kuch nahi."

Shri sighed, snuggling closer. "Main sach me lucky hoon."

Riyan grinned. "Ye to hai."

She smacked his chest lightly. "Aur tum bhi."

"Haan haan, dono lucky. Ab so jao? Kal ghar bhi settle karna hai."

She yawned, nodding. As they settled under the covers, Shri hugged the bunny close, while Riyan wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close.

"Mujhe abhi bhi samajh nahi aata ki tumne mujhe kaise pasand kar lia," he murmured sleepily.

Shri smiled against his chest. "Bas ho gaye. Koi logic nahi, bas tum tum ho isliye."

Riyan pressed a lazy kiss to the top of her head. "Goodnight, meri bunny."

"Goodnight, Ri."

And just like that, their new life together had begun.
