xvii. I think I've seen this film
before, and I didn't like the ending

DALLAS WALKED OVER TO THE CURTIS house, Maria by his side. He was nervous but after his recent revelations, he knew that he had to go back and find the kids.

He had gotten a call back from a friend who had offered to take them in and hide them for the rest of their lives and he was going to let them know of their options.

Soda opened the door and before he could say anything to them, Dally started to speak, "I'm gonna head up and see them,"

There was silence.

He opened the door and ushered for them to come in. Darrel stood up from his spot on the sofa and walked over to them.

"What?" There was a level of tension between the two men as they looked at one another.

They didn't break eye contact, the silence between them defeaning. Sodapop and Maria shared a look, hoping this wouldn't break into a fight.

"The boys, I'm gonna offer to bring them home," He explained.

He nodded, folding his arms across hie chest, "If they refuse?"

Dallas looked back at his girlfriend. They had discussed the other option and although it wasn't ideal, it was the best that they had.

"Then I have a safe house for them. Forever," he explained.

They all waited for Darrels reaction. There was silence as he took a deep breath and stepped towards his friend.

Neither of them had really spoken to one another since the incident and that was because of their differing views on the events.

"Okay, you bring them home," He said, holding his hand out.

Dallas smiled. He would never admit it but the Curtis' were the closest that they had to family and his friendship meant a lot to them.

Sodapop smiled. At least he wasn't going to have to hold up a fight. He stood there for a second before his eyes went wide. "Wait a second,"

He scrambled out of the room and they all waited, confused as to where they were planning on going.

He came back, a letter in hand, "I wrote a letter, please give it to Pony," he said, handing it over.

Dallas nodded, "Of course," he turned to his girlfriend, "You coming Maria?"

She shook her head, "Someone needs to hold down the fort back here," she stated and he knew it was right. Someone needed to be here in case something happened.

She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek, "Be safe,"

Dallas scoffed, "I always am Doll," he promised before walking out of that door and getting into his car, driving away.
