George was sitting in the kitchen of the safe house he was fully dressed in the servants uniform he'd found in the wardrobe with his name on it. He guessed that was his cover he was going to be a servant to Ashanti Sall an idea that made George sick to his stomach. He was strangely curious to see what would happen how everything would go down. He felt he should be afraid but he wasn't he was a little excited and not much else. George looked at his uniform he looked like one of the doormen at a posh hotel. His whole uniform was red except from his shoes from the top of his ankle to the top of his head everything was a rosy shade of red. He'd left his pistol in the safe there was no way he would be able to bring it into the palace undetected.
The others were also in the kitchen they were standing around talking to one another discussing what they were going to do once they were on the inside. Max seemed to have lightened up a bit he once again assumed the role of leader already telling people where they're going to be and what there going to do. The men seemed happy enough it seemed they didn't want to spend what may well be there last hours being miserable.
Max walked over to George casually and sat down next opposite to him at the table just like George and the others he too was wearing a servants uniform. "Can you believe there making us wear this crap?" Max said smiling.
"I know right I hardly feel like an assassin now that I'm dressed like a bell boy." Max laughed and nodded his head.
"Any idea how were going to manage to kill Ashanti?" Max asked sounding genuinely concerned.
"It beats me we definitely won't be able to take our guns maybe poison we slip something in his drink and be gone by the time it starts to take effect." George said it was the first thing that came into his mind. Max sat in silence thinking about it for a while.
"It sounds good, but where are we goanna get something like that without being noticed?" George hadn't thought of that he guessed he could rule out poison for the time being.
"You talk to your wife last night?" Max asked.
"You heard?" George asked with a sigh embarrassed by the idea he had heard everything he had said to her.
"No. No I was just wondering that all." Max said defensively.
"I talked to her she seems all right they stuck her in some kind of refugee camp."
"That sucks after everything which you've done to keep her safe then again what do you expect from Adams."
"It sucks." George said quietly he didn't want Max to go off on another rant about Adams he'd heard enough of that already. Max walked off to talk to someone else George turned to see who else to speak with. He hadn't said a word to most of the men there making him feel slightly awkward given how much everyone was talking. George saw that Sid was standing by the door not talking to anyone he felt sorry for him so he decided to go talk to him.
"Hey." George said calling him from a few footsteps away.
"Hey." Sid replied as he took a step closer to George.
"You doing okay?" George asked.
"I'm fine kind of nervous about Ghana." Sid said with a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
"Me too" George lied he wanted to reassure Sid after all he was only about eighteen no matter who he is he was out of his depth here.
"I'm sorry but something's bothering me what drove you here you're only what eighteen? Nineteen? What made you do this." George said he felt the need to be honest it might help him to help Sid.
Sid shrugged "they were looking for volunteers I figured anything was better than the frontline I guessed wrong huh."
"Yeah I guess you did but once we get past this it's all over." George said.
