In Riverdale, everyone wears a mask, not just the Black Hood. But every so often, the mask slips and our true selves are laid bare, for all the world to see. So we scramble to put it back on, like a kid in a cheap Halloween costume, but it's too late. People have already seen what's underneath...and it's terrifying. ••• "Penelope, thank you for coming. We called as soon as Cheryl told us." Hermonie says to Penelope as they sit in living room inside Pembrooke as Veronica, Cheryl and Quinn listen in.
"And I appreciate that, I just wish you'd stop her from talking to Sheriff Keller. Lord knows what Cheryl did or said to the St. Clair boy to provoke him." Penelope says.
"According to Veronica and Quinn, nothing." Hermonie tells her.
"Hiram. Hermonie. I want this handled discreetly." Penelope tells them.
"Well, I'm confident that the St. Clairs feel the same way." Hiram says.
"Then it's settled. I'll talk to that idiot Keller and tell him we won't be pressing charges. After all, nothing really happened to Cheryl." Penelope says.
"Cheryl, I'm...so sorry." Veronica tells her as Cheryl walks over to the bed.
"Don't be silly. I'm used to it. And besides, you heard what Mommy said. Nothing really happened to me." Cheryl says as she puts on her jacket.
"But you shouldn't have to be used to it." Quinn tells her.
"Nick roofied you, he tried-" Veronica says but gets cut off.
"If everything's fine, then why did we just call Sheriff Keller and make a statement?" Veronica asks.
"A momentary lapse in sanity. I mean, can you even imagine? Me, facing off against Nick St. Clair in a courtroom battle royale? I'd be a laughing stock." Cheryl says and then walks towards the door.
"Cheryl, wait." Quinn tells her.
"It's not just you. He's done it to other girls, I mean, hell, he even tried to do it to me. The night before the open house." Veronica says.
"He did do it to me the entire year we were dating. He'd do it anytime he felt bored." Quinn says.
"Did you tell your parents?" Cheryl asks and Veronica shook her head no.
"I didn't tell anybody." Quinn tells her.
"And yet you were happy to fill them in on my after-dark-drama, weren't you? Well, I won't be a puppet for your thirst for vengeance. You want justice? You go after Nick in court, Veronica, Quinn." Cheryl says and then walks out of the bedroom. ••• (Quinn's outfit)
