Like the Red Death showing up in an Edgar Allan Poe story, the Black Hood had come to Riverdale. With that grimmest of reapers looming over us, how did we cope? In the case of Archie and Quinn, it was through carnal defiance. With every kiss and embrace, they seemed to be saying: 'You have no power over me, Death.'
In fact 'Qarchie' became the opposite of death. In Archie's bedroom...in his garage...even in the Pembrooke. After all, if our young lovers dared to defy the Black Hood, why not risk Hiram Lodge's wrath as well? ••• "Hey." Archie says to Quinn as they lay naked under a blanket cuddled in front of the fireplace in the Pembrooke's living room.
"Hmm." Quinn hums.
"Are you sure your parents or Veronica aren't gonna come back any time soon? What if they catch us like this?" Archie asks.
"The tasting menu at Pourquoi is 13 courses, Archie. Veronica is out on a date with some boy she won't tell me who. We have hours yet. What? You've always wanted to make it in front of a roaring fire?" Quinn says and Archie chuckles.
"No, just...I love you, Qu. You, uh, wanna watch Netflix?" Archie says as he and Quinn sit up quickly.
"I wonder what's on HBO." Quinn says.
"Maybe I should go on the off chance your parents or Veronica comes back." Archie tells her.
"Yes, or at least we should get dressed." Quinn says.
"I'm gonna go...I have to do this thing. I'll text you." Archie says and then starts standing up.
"Archie...this was as always, amazing." Quinn tells him and then kisses him and he stands up and walks over to his clothes an puts them on. ••• "So the reason we called you guys in here..." Betty says to Quinn, Veronica, Archie as she and Jughead stand in front of them inside the Blue and Gold's office.
"My dad's getting out of jail." Jughead says.
"Jug, that's...that's great." Archie says.
"That's amazing." Quinn says.
"Yeah, what heralded this miracle?" Veronica asks.
"Uh, overcrowding at the jail, I guess the judge reviewed my dad's case and after Cheryl's testimony it was...a perfect storm." Jughead says.
"What do you need from us, Jug?" Archie asks.
"Both of us. We have a new lead on the Black Hood case. And Jughead and I, we were wondering if you guys would follow up on it for us. We can give you all of the details, the articles." Betty says as she gathers the news-clippings.
