One week after Riverdale High's absorption of its Southside counterpart, and everything was the same. And nothing was the same. Take Archie Andrews. On the surface, he's getting ready for basketball tryouts, as he does every winter. But underneath, he was churning, his life in chaos after an unexpected visit from the Feds. Meanwhile, the town was preparing to honor its founding father, General Augustus Pickens. ••• "Well, he's very fetching for someone who was living on Skid Row." Veronica tells Kevin as she looks at Betty's phone as Kevin, Betty, Quinn, Jughead and Veronica sit in the student lounge.
"Yeah, he's a hottie who looks incredibly familiar to me, by the way." Kevin tells her as he looks at the phone.
"Your adventures in the woods?" Jughead asks.
"I don't know but maybe if we were allowed to meet this hottie in person..." Kevin says.
"Chic's still acclimating. And I'm trying to get him to trust me, but my mom is treating him like he's a ten-year-old and my dad's acting like he's the devil's spawn." Betty tells him.
"Well, I have an amazing idea. Bring The Omen to Pickens Day and we can all meet him. Everyone's coming, right?" Veronica says and looks around everyone.
"No, because the Serpents weren't invited." Jughead tells her.
"Which is stupid." Quinn says.
"The Serpents were specifically asked to come." Veronica tells Jughead.
"Yeah, to provide security. It's like we're all on the Snowpiercer train, but the Serpents happen to be the ones eating the cockroaches." Jughead tells her.
"Which again is stupid." Quinn tells them.
"When did you become an activist for the Serpents?" Kevin asks Quinn.
"When I became a Serpent." Quinn tells him.
"You don't have to work if you don't want to." Veronica tells them.
"The damage, as they say, has already been done. Talk to you guys later." Jughead tells her and then stands up as he gathers his things.
"Plans with Toni?" Betty asks as she looks over at Toni.
"Uh, yeah, I'm interviewing her grandfather for my oral history report. The oldest living Serpent." Jughead tells her and then walks over to Toni, and they leave the room. ••• "Archie, what is it?" Quinn asks him as they walk down the hallway together.
"Look, I feel stupid even talking about this, but...it's about your dad. I kind of get the feeling he doesn't really like me." Archie tells her.
"What? No that's not true. He's just upset at me because he learned last week that I joined the Serpents when he saw my Serpent tattoo on the back of my neck." Quinn tells him.
