Kaitlyn's P.O.V.

"Rika..." I say not wanting this to be how it all ends and trying to convince Ryker to give me a second chance. Ryker pauses at the gate and turns around. "Thank you Kaitlyn for providing me with this valuable lesson and making me a stronger person because of it" Ryker says, "You are my best friend and my first crush and will always have a place in my heart but I think we shouldn't be friends anymore and need to cut ties with each other. We need to go our separate ways." "No..." I say pulling Ryker into a hug and what I didn't know at the time would be our last hug. After a few seconds, Ryker pulls away, "And I forgive you." Ryker gives me a small smile before turning and walking away from me as I start crying.

That was the last time I saw Ryker. Thinking back now on the last several months, Ryker was right and I hate myself so much. Graduation came and passed and it was summer vacation. I ditched my new friends shortly after summer started and my family whisked me away on a family vacation for a month. Once I finally got back and decided to talk to Ryker and keep trying til we were friends again. I had done a lot of thinking and self reflecting, I accepted Ryker for who he was. I stopped by his house but was the one that was surprised instead. Apparently the Quill's had moved and I had no idea where.

It's not like I could call or text Ryker and get that information since he had blocked me on his old number and then changed his number and I never got it. Well there was no way I could even continue with my plan of winning Ryker back as a friend and hopefully eventually more in the future. I just had to accept the fact that it wasn't meant to be. That's when I remembered that Ryker played football. There was a small chance that my plan could work. So after that I became a cheerleader in hopes that our two schools would play each other, which would give me a chance to talk to Ryker.

Eight years have passed since then and our schools never played each other so I never got the chance to talk to Ryker and make things right. It sucks because this was the one way that I would run into Ryker but it looks like I'll never get the chance to apologize to Ryker and tell him that I accept him for him. Today my college plays our rivals Texas Tech and we have just arrived at the college. Me and my friend Luna, who I met junior year of high school, exit the bus and find a place in the hall to stretch and warm up. "Are you ready" Luna asks me. I just shrug my shoulders, just over it since our schools never played each other, so I never saw Ryker again, and never got a chance to apologize and make things right.

"You're not feeling it because of Ryker...right" Luna asks, "I mean you even had to know before you put your plan into action and became a cheerleader, it was a long shot." Yes, Luna knows who Ryker is and knows all about the history between me and Ryker. She was the first person I ever told, even my parents don't know the full story. "I know..." I say, "I still had hope that it would work." "For whatever it's worth, I'm sorry your plan failed" Luna says placing her hand on my shoulder, "But maybe this is the universe's way of telling you it's time to put Ryker behind you and move on. I mean it's been eight years, I think you need to accept the fact that you and Ryker weren't meant to be." I sigh running my hand through my hair, "Yeah..."

From down the hall, I hear a group of guys talking and laughing. We look over and see six guys from our rival school walking down the hall towards the locker room. We move to the side. "I can't believe that after tonight not only will my boy here be a legend with two back to back perfect seasons but also be an engaged man" one of the guys says. "Who would have thought Quill would be the first of us to be engaged" a second guy says. "Guys, she hasn't even said yes yet" this Quill guy says as they walk past us. "All I'm saying is that I better be the best man" the third guy says. "That title goes to as you said the best man which we all know is me" guy number four says. "Jeez" the Quill guy says, "You're already fighting over a title that isn't even set in stone yet?"
