The three individuals sat facing each other, sipping the tea that Sebastian had expertly prepared.
Isabella stood beside Sebastian, her presence comforting him in a way he couldn't quite explain. Sebastian felt a sense of reassurance, knowing she was there by his side.
Ciel took a sip of the tea and glanced at them. "Yesterday, there was another murder of a prostitute near Whitechapel. It wasn't a mere murder. I dare say it's bizarre... no, it's downright freaky," he explained, his tone grave.
It was Jack the Ripper. The topic for today revolved around the Jack the Ripper cases that had been haunting London lately.
Ciel was expressing his determination to investigate the Jack the Ripper cases further. That meant delving into the darkest corners of London's underbelly, a task that was both dangerous and unsettling.
Lau stood up. "Are you truly ready for that, Earl Phantomhive?" he asked, his expression serious as he gently cupped his cheek.
"I'm here to sweep away her sorrows," Ciel stated firmly, his eyes unwavering. "Don't ask such stupid questions," he added, glaring at Lau with a steely gaze.
"Nice, I like those eyes of yours," Lau remarked with a smirk, his tone slightly teasing.
Lau straightened up, his eyes landing on Isabella. "Archbishop, what do you think?" he inquired, his expression curious.
Isabella looked at him intently. "Whatever Ciel decides is final," she stated firmly, her voice leaving no room for doubt.
Lau approached her, closing the distance between them. "Hm, you're a strange bishop, I must say," he remarked, his voice laced with curiosity.
Isabella was wondering what he meant when he suddenly put his hand around her waist and pulled her closer to him. "Wha—" she started, surprised.
"You're interesting," he said with a sly smile, his eyes studying her intently.
Then, all of a sudden, Sebastian grabbed her away from him and wrapped his arm around her waist, her back leaning against him. "Mister Lau, please be respectful of Her Grace," he said coldly, his eyes narrowing.
Sebastian felt a surge of irritation when he saw what Lau did. He didn't like how close Lau got to Isabella, nor did he appreciate another man's interest in her. He didn't understand why he was reacting this way, but the intensity of his feelings was undeniable.
He didn't realize it himself, but he was becoming possessive of her. He wanted her to himself. "I should be the only man who can get close to Isabella," he thought. She stirred emotions in him that he couldn't ignore. "I need to protect her," he resolved, tightening his grip on her waist.
"Whoa, calm down. If looks could kill, I'd already be dead," Lau said with a smirk. "Earl, you have quite the protective butler," he added, raising an eyebrow as he stepped back.
Meanwhile, Isabella's mind raced with confusion. "W-w-what's this!? Why is Sebastian acting like this!? He's so close to me! I can feel his breathing on my neck! I hope he can't hear my heart beating like crazy," she thought, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "But... why does this feel so... strangely comforting?" she wondered, her thoughts swirling with uncertainty.
After that, Isabella helped clean up the table and was washing the dishes before they headed to the crime scene. She was still thinking about what Sebastian did when all of a sudden, she heard him close to her ear.
"Your Grace," he said, his voice soft and close.
Before she could react, he wrapped his arm around her waist as he stood behind her, his presence sending a shiver down her spine. It was both unexpected and strangely comforting.
