It was a very cloudy day. It was raining cats and dogs. Isabella was staring outside the window as Ciel and Madame Red played chess.
Sebastian stood beside her. “Something on your mind, love?” he asked.
“Sebastian...” she looked at the two and then back at him. “Didn't I tell you not to call me that when we're working?” she whispered.
Their relationship was still a secret. Isabella wanted it to stay that way, since if the church found out, she would be doomed.
“Anyway, this case...” she trailed off, “...I think I won't like the ending of this,” she looked at him. “I don't have a good feeling about this,” she admitted.
Sebastian listened attentively. Then he turned to Ciel, “Young master, I'll make some tea and snacks,” he said. Ciel nodded in acknowledgment.
Sebastian glanced at her, gesturing for her to follow. Isabella followed him, and when they were in the hallway, Sebastian turned around and suddenly kissed her. Isabella was taken aback, her eyes widening in surprise.
“My love, I had a feeling you knew who’s behind this, don’t you?” he whispered, his lips lingering close to hers.
“I wasn’t sure,” she replied softly. “But when my eyes saw it, it was confirmed. I didn’t want to tell it straight to Ciel. I got worried,” she confessed, her voice trembling slightly.
Sebastian caressed her cheek. He looked into her eyes, his gaze intense. “Then, my guess would also be correct,” he murmured.
“You knew...” she breathed, astonished.
“I don’t lie, my love,” he assured her, his thumb gently tracing her jawline.
“Then, it’s time. We can’t prolong this any longer,” she said, determination in her eyes.
Sebastian nodded and kissed her again, a brief yet passionate gesture. He then pulled away, his expression serious. “Let’s finish this,” he said quietly.
Later that evening, the three, Sebastian, Isabella, and Ciel, stood in a narrow alley in the commoner section.
“If we stay here, he'll come, right?” Ciel inquired.
“Right,” Isabella affirmed.
Isabella glanced down at Sebastian, who was engrossed in playing with a cat. She sighed and pinched his ear.
“Pay attention, Sebastian,” she scolded.
“Lo-Your Grace, this cat is a rare beauty,” he protested.
Ciel saw her scolding Sebastian, which was a rare sight. No one had ever dared to scold Sebastian except himself. Isabella had the guts to scold a demon. That impressed him.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
Then, all of a sudden, they heard a woman's scream echoing through the abbey.
They turned their attention toward the sound. "No one's supposed to be able to get through here..." Ciel remarked.
Sebastian quickly stood up. "Let's go," he said.
They ran towards the door where they heard the scream.
Isabella caught a whiff of something. "This smell... Blood!?"
Before Ciel could push the door, Isabella grabbed his hand, pulled him around to face her, and pressed his face against her chest.
She didn't want him to see what she was seeing now.
A woman lay dead on the floor, blood covering her, eyes wide open.
A bit of blood spat on her cheek. She felt a presence inside, and she quickly stepped back away from the door. Sebastian swiftly stood in front of the two, protective instincts kicking in.
"You've made quite a mess, haven't you?" he said to the person walking out of the room. "Jack the Ripper."
A man in a butler uniform and round glasses, "Or rather, Grell Sutcliff," Sebastian said.
Grell tried to play innocent, but he was covered in blood. He looked at them with feigned innocence, but Isabella glared at him.
“Stop with the act,” she said firmly. In her eyes, Grell's soul seemed hollow, devoid of any humanity. “This is the first time I've seen your kind in the human world. If I had known you were going to do this, I would have reported you the first time I saw you.”
Grell's lips twisted into a wicked smile. “Oh? What a strange human you are,” he taunted, as he removed his disguise, revealing his signature red hair and his true face.
“What's truly strange is someone of divinity like you being with a demon pretending to be a butler. This is the first time I've seen such an odd combination,” he remarked.
“Anyway, let me reintroduce myself,” he continued, flipping his long hair dramatically. “I'm Grell Sutcliff, butler of Burnett House. We finally meet with our true colors, Sebasty~” he exclaimed, throwing a flying kiss towards Sebastian, who dodged it effortlessly.
“Sebastian, I've never seen a body with no soul. What is he?” Isabella inquired.
“A supposed neutrality between God and human, a Grim Reaper,” Sebastian explained.
“Grim Reaper... Then why are you here pretending to be a butler?” she pressed.
“I've fallen in love with a woman,” Grell interjected.
“Then, I suppose that woman is...” she trailed off.
Footsteps echoed as a woman appeared behind Grell. She stood beside him. “Madame Red...” Isabella observed.
Ciel pushed himself away from Isabella's body and turned around, remaining calm.
“I didn't imagine that this would happen but on the first list of suspects, you were among them, Madame Red,” Ciel revealed.
He explained how Madame Red is Jack The Ripper along with Grell. Isabella really didn't like the results. Madame Red was the only family Ciel had left on his mother's side. Fate was... cruel. Sebastian noticed her distress.
He wanted to hold her hand, but they were in the middle of a case. He restrained himself, opting to offer her a reassuring glance instead.
"If you hadn't found out, we could have played chess again," Madame Red lamented. "However..." Her fist clenched. "...I'm not backing down this time!"
Grell suddenly attacked Ciel with a chainsaw, but before he could land a hit, Isabella grabbed Ciel's shoulder and pulled him away. Sebastian quickly halted the chainsaw with his hand. Grell quickly stepped away. It was a tense standoff.
“It's been a while since I've used my weapon, so I need a bit of exercise. Of course, starting with you, Sebasty~” Grell winked.
Sebastian felt a surge of disgust. "To erase this disgusting feeling, I should savor my lover later," he thought as he glanced at Isabella. Isabella tilted her head, wondering why he was looking at her. Sebastian just found her gestures cute. He was really smitten with her.
He never thought he'd fall for anyone, much less someone of divinity. She was a bishop, and Sebastian liked her even more for it.
“I command you under the name of the Queen and my evil name...” Ciel lifted his eye patch, revealing the Faustian Contract underneath, “Hunt them down!” he commanded, his eyes glowing.
“Yes, my lord,” Sebastian replied, his tone obedient yet resolute.
