Roses and Gold

Another damn day in Hell.

Another nightmare to be lived.

If all I wish is freedom,

What am I to give?

Running far and wide,

To my owner I must abide.

Through forest and sea,

My mind struggles to brake free.

I have disappeared.

I have reappeared.

I am unsure what path to take now.

This twisted road has left my soul

With nothing less than agony.

Watch me fall so far below,

The rope you hold

Will not save my soul.

It was broken long ago.

Blood and pain,

Divine light and joy,

Sorrowful and forgetful,

Where lies my home?

My hand is slipping

From the cord.

The last strand broke,

And all aboard

This boat so old.

I am living now,

But dying as well.

I can feel it go.

I can feel it spin.

I can feel it win.

Death prevails.

And you ask me

Not to go.

But I am already gone.

Look, look at my world

And tell me nothing is wrong.

Goodbye to you all,

Though I cannot sing a parting song,

Though my mouth cannot speak,

Though my thoughts are slowly fading,

I want you all to know

I have at last freed my soul.

And my parting gift:

Roses and gold.
