"Dibs on the bed by the wall."

Mira wasn't even surprised that Michelle wanted the bed furthest away from the motel door. After all of the true crime podcasts they had listened to together, Mira knew that Michelle would never be able to sleep by a window or door again. She needed the extra space so she could bolt while the person closest to the door was being murdered.

Dumping her bag down on the bed closest to the door, she threw herself back, letting her body bounce against the mattress which was nothing in comparison to the mattress in her room at The Compound. She couldn't stop thinking about the infinite reasons that Peter might be lying to her. Was it some payback for her not telling him about Tony selling the Tower sooner? Even if that was the case and he was just being petty, what was he keeping from her? He had told her everything about what had gone down with the vulture guy, she was sure of it given how close he was to breaking down.

There was no way he had lied about what had happened that night.

Right?

He wouldn't keep anything about that night secret to himself.

"Are you okay?" Michelle asked as she dropped down beside Mira on the bed, both of them lying side by side on the lumpy mattress eyes focused on the ceiling. When Mira didn't answer refusing to even glance at her, eyes still glued to the ceiling, Michelle sighed and linked their pinkie fingers together. While she had her suspicions about some of what Mira was dealing with right now, until she was comfortable talking about it, Michelle didn't want to push her. What she suspected Mira was currently dealing with on top of the realisation about the crush was a lot.

"Him lying to you bothers you more than you expected I guess?"

While she knew Mira was certain it was just a crush, Michelle knew that Mira liked Peter Parker a lot more than she was willing to admit.

Honestly, a part of her was convinced that she was in love with him.

A classic tale of she fell first but he fell harder.

Peter may not have realised the truth yet which was obvious given how he completely faded into oblivion the second Liz looked in his direction, it was also obvious that he would let the world burn to ashes just to make sure Mira was smiling. Time changed a lot of things. Over a year since Mira had started at Mid-Town and in that year she had forced Peter Parker to feel more comfortable within himself despite how nervous and closed off he had been during their freshman year. She was the match that lit him up, it was obvious to everyone. Hence why everyone was always so shocked when they found out the pair weren't actually a couple given how much they started glowing whenever they were around each other.

Mira let out a shaky breath, clenching her eyes shut as she tried not to let herself get too emotional, a crush shouldn't be weighing this deeply on her soul. Getting over all over her previous crushes had been easy because she hadn't really been attached. The hardest being Dante who she had been on and off with for years. He was her first kiss, her first date and her first attempt at third base. They had only brought their budding relationship to an end because neither of them wanted to be trapped in a long-distance relationship during their freshman year of High School.

Yet, she had gotten over him.

Something she couldn't seem to do when it came to her crush on Peter.

It didn't make any sense. She had forced herself to get over her crush on Pietro because she loved their friendship and didn't want to make it awkward.
