SPIDER-MAN AND ATOM ROGUE: HOMECOMING
P22 | OUR PATH IS OUR CHOICE⚛🕷⚛
Mira Rohan's faith had always been in people.
It was the main thing she had shared with Steve Rogers. Unlike her father, Mira had never wanted to conquer or fight, she had wanted to help people, but without spilling blood. She had never wanted to contribute to the death of this world. Mira had never liked bullies, no matter the shape or form. Whether that be a bully who insulted others to feed into their own egos like Flash Thompson, a twisted way of trying to pretend he wasn't miserable with his own circumstances, or a bully that used their physical advantage over others.
Her father had been a bully, convinced that he was fighting the good fight, just following orders for a planet that didn't see an issue with treating others like lesser than them.
Mira Rohan had used her words to deflate egos and used her smarts to prove smug individuals wrong, but just using her wit and mind had been impossible with the world on fire around her.
The world needed her strength, needed her to use her powers, despite the fact all she had ever wanted was to save the world without having to throw the first punch.
Just like Steve Rogers, Mira Rohan had never really fit in anywhere, but that hadn't lessened the love she had for the people of this world. It was why she had fought against her father, not wanting to let them down even if it meant doing what she hated and throwing fists.
Unlike Steve, Mira wasn't a soldier.
She may have been raised as one but it wasn't who she was, it wasn't the path she wanted to lead.
Mira and Steve shared so many similarities and differences which had really been put to the test during The Accords. The fact remained though, Mira knew that deep down had it been Sammy in Bucky's position, being hunted by those determined to lock him up, she would have sacrificed everything for him, just like Steve had done for Bucky.
They both loved their best friends more than anything because when it came down to it. Sammy and Bucky were the people who proved that there was more than blood. Blood didn't mean everything and that fact became even more important when you lost your blood relatives or were betrayed by them.
Mira couldn't stop thinking about all of the similarities she shared with Steve Rogers as she perched on the rooftop of her building, legs dangling over the edge, eyes glued to the three letters in her hands.
Sammy was her Bucky.
A childhood best friend who had stuck with her through hell and back. He had supported her through everything, never once turned his back on her even when he found out about her powers or about what her father had been training her for. Sammy had believed in her more than he had feared Marcus Rohan by the end. Had held her when she blamed herself for the lost lives in St Louis, doing his best to convince her that it wasn't her fault. He had dried her tears following Glenn's death, letting her rely on him as her world combusted into flames.
