STEVE
28 JUNE 2015"It's been a waste this past week," I complained as I left the bed. "I hope everything is fine at their end. He hasn't responded to any of my messages."
DC Khan watched me with mild amusement. "You should know that he is the Prince. I'm sure he has other things to do as a Prince." We have lived here together for the past week, in Edward's chamber, as DC Khan had lied to her seniors about preparing the report on me. Instead, to kill time, we had been discovering each other's bodies, and had made Edward's chamber our honeymoon suite. "I am surprised your family doesn't own a place in this town," she added. "You own flats all over the UK." Was she mocking me or my family's wealth?
"There is nothing special in this town to visit," I mumbled, approaching the sideboard to fetch Edward's sketchbook.
"But now there is," she suggested.
I looked down at her, smiling. She was looking adorably sexy in her midnight blue satin lingerie.
"We have the whole castle to stay in," I said, opening the journal.
"But I can't stay here anymore," she complained, "it's too daunting."
"Any monsters under your bed?"
"Not under." Flinging herself off the bed, she ambled towards the sideboard. "On the bed. And he doesn't let me sleep all night."
"I believe the monster had a very ravishing meal last night," I said, leaning in to kiss her.
"Sketches." She pressed her hand on my chest to stop me. "We are working."
Exhaling, I opened the journal. Was there a surprise for us today?
I picked up the sheet of paper with Jasmine and flipped it over, praying that he responded today. And there it was:
THERE IS A LOT ALREADY ON HER MIND. BY THE WAY, JASMINE'S ADVISOR RUNS TESTS AND BRINGS RESULTS FROM THE LAB. FIND OUT WHO HE IS!
"What?" DC Khan snapped. "There is someone else?"
I stared at the message, not sure how to answer. We hadn't completely found out the truth about Jasmine yet, and now there was another man involved in this time travelling with her, and he was bringing her the lab results.
"I'm gonna go crazy," DC Khan admitted. "This castle will send me to the asylum." I totally agreed with her. I wondered what Myra must be going through, reading Jasmine's book, finding out the truth and the hidden surprises everywhere around her. It must be so exhausting for her. No wonder Edward said a lot was going on in her life. Jasmine's book was enough to make anyone insane.
"Who could this other man be?" I wondered, speaking my mind.
DC Khan scratched her temple, thinking. "Should we ask this Bakr guy, who also time travels to Myra?" I jerked my head at her with surprise. "I mean...he might know something."
"I never thought he'd know," I mumbled, still shocked by my ignorance—how come I didn't think of it? If he was aware of Edward's book and keeping it with him, then he must be aware of Jasmine, too. He already gave me a hard time when I called him a week ago and requested him to deliver something to Myra. I wondered if he had given it to her already. I didn't want to tell all this to DC Khan. She might not like it—that, on the one hand, I was sleeping with her, and on the other hand, I was sending tampons and medicine to my fiancée. DC Khan might feel betrayed by my act. If I were in her shoes, I would feel the same way. It's better if I don't tell her.
"But I can't see him," I complained. "Remember that I can't leave the country?"
"Oh!" She rolled her eyes. "But we could call or email him?"
