Lily nodded and turned to leave, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and excitement as she stepped out of the café and into the bustling streets of Knockturn Alley.

As Marvolo watched her leave, his mind was already working on the possibilities. Lily Potter could prove to be an invaluable source of information. He would play this game carefully, extracting every bit of useful knowledge from her while keeping his true intentions hidden. Next Friday couldn't come soon enough.

The following week, Lily found herself once again venturing into Knockturn Alley after James had left. She stood at the door of the café she had visited, her heart sinking with disappointment as she scanned the crowded street. Perhaps Marvolo wasn't coming after all.

Lost in her thoughts, Lily was startled when a delicate lily flower suddenly swayed in front of her face. She looked up to see Marvolo standing before her, holding out the flower with a small smile on his lips.

"A beautiful flower for a beautiful lady," he said, his voice smooth and charming.

Lily couldn't help but smile at the unexpected gesture. She reached out to take the flower, feeling a flutter of warmth in her chest as she tucked it behind her ear, allowing it to adorn her hair.

"Thank you, Marvolo," she said softly, meeting his gaze. "It's a lovely surprise."

Marvolo inclined his head slightly, his eyes gleaming with hidden intentions. "I thought it might brighten your day," he replied, his tone carrying a hint of mystery.

They spent the afternoon wandering through the dimly lit streets of Knockturn Alley, Marvolo guiding Lily through various shops and helping her select rare potions ingredients. Lily marvelled at the assortment of exotic ingredients lining the shelves, her curiosity piqued by Marvolo's extensive knowledge.

"This ingredient is particularly potent in healing potions," Marvolo explained, holding up a vial filled with shimmering liquid. "But it must be used with caution because excess of this can make the potion smell rotten."

Lily nodded, absorbing his words eagerly, reaching out to examine the vial.

Late into the night, the topic of Severus Snape arose. Lily's expression grew sombre as she expressed deep regret over not reconciling with him before his untimely demise. She confessed to Marvolo that she had forgiven Severus for calling her a mudblood and that it didn't matter to her, revealing that the true reason for their estrangement was something she wished to keep hidden, even from herself. Marvolo felt a surge of curiosity, tempted to delve into Lily's mind to uncover her secret. However, he resisted the urge, recognizing the importance of maintaining her trust.
