"I cannot believe you let him live!" Velvette exclaimed. "If you had killed him I'd finally be free from your Alastor rants..."
Vox, Velvette and Valentino were standing next to a sleeping Radio Demon. Alastor had been trying to stay awake the entire time, worried that perhaps the three Vees would attack him if he let his guard down. That, and also because he doesn't want to seem more vulnerable than he already is. Eventually, Vox got tired of his stubborn nature and used one of Valentino's sleeping drugs to get the red haired demon to go to sleep.
"He looked pitiful. At least now I'll have something to embarrass him with," Vox said triumphantly. "Now he'll know that the only reason he's alive is because I had a big enough heart to spare him."
Velvette scoffed as she left the room. "Well have fun with your new pet. I have work to do. Bye bitches."
"I'm quite late too. I bet my dear Angel is waiting for me in the office~ Bye Voxxy, I'll see you later," Valentino said, using his smoke to blow out a small heart before leaving as well.
Once again, it was Vox alone with Alastor. Today, the TV demon was free of any meetings, therefore he had all the time in the world to do anything he wanted. And for some reason, all he wanted to do was sit by the Radio Demon's side.
Without much to do, Vox was even more focused and observant when it came to staring at Alastor. He noticed things that he wouldn't have noticed on a regular basis. For example, the scars on his body.
Ever since Vox met Alastor, the latter always wore a long sleeved top that covered every inch of his body other than his face. Now, he has no choice but to wear looser clothes to allow the wound to heal, but by doing so his scars needed to be revealed.
The scars looked horrible. Some were in patches, while others seemed to be in a bite-mark shape. Some were just a darker shade of his skin, but others were a creepy reddish pink colour. The scars littered Alastor's skin. On his neck, arms, hands...Vox shivered just looking at them. How did he even get such horrifying scars?
Vox pushed those thoughts away, realising it might have been something to do with Alastor's death. Whatever happened, it was certainly terrible.
Instead, the TV demon went to find some food. Alastor did seem to enjoy the soup Velvette made, but she was busy now and he didn't want to bother her anymore than he already has. She was already pissed at Valentino for spilling a mug of coffee on her new dress this morning before being dragged outside by Vox to deal with a group of fan girls trying to get inside the V tower.
He sighed as he rummaged through the fridge. There was nothing except a piece of bread and some cheese. No meat, not even a slice of ham was present. This would have to do. Vox put everything onto a plate as well as a glass of water and headed back into the room.
When he entered, Alastor had woken up.
"Why hello there old pal," his voice was tired, but filled with hostility. "Might I ask what did you put into my drink?"
He was clever, but Vox didn't expect him to catch on this quickly that he had drugged his drink in order for him to sleep. So he avoided the question. "I brought you some food and un-drugged water."
Alastor's eyes narrowed at the sight of the food. "The bread looks 3 weeks old, old pal. And the cheese smells of rotten flesh."
"Isn't your favourite meal venison meat? I don't see how thats any different from rotten flesh," Vox scoffed, rolling his eyes as he placed the tray of food down. "I don't care if you'll actually eat the food. But if you want to recover then you'd better stop being so stubborn. I've already seen you at your worst. No need to feel ashamed of accepting help when it's offered right under your nose!"
Alastor's smile tightened. He hated any kind of help. He hated wanting help and asking for help and accepting help. But he was hungry...so he shrugged and took the bread and cheese and took a bite out of it.
Vox winced when he saw the twisted expression on Alastor's face after tasting it. The bread did look a little stale...and although the cheese looked fine, they lived in hell. God knows how the cheese was even obtained.
"I'm afraid I might get ill if I take another bite," Alastor said, placing the food back onto the plate and passive-aggressively pushing it out of his reach.
The TV demon didn't press, and instead offered to get some fresh food - precisely meat - for Alastor to eat.
"Thank you for your hospitality! But I do wonder why you would go so far to make sure I of all people would feel comfortable in your home...if you can even call it that," Alastor questioned.
"Because I actually have a fucking heart unlike some people I know?" Vox muttered, glaring at the red haired demon. "Plus you'll be out of here soon enough. Once you're gone perhaps you can ask your cat to tend to your wounds or something..."
Said 'cat' was referring to Husk of course. It wasn't like Alastor didn't trust Husk or anything. He owned the other's soul, so the former overlord wouldn't dare to spill any of Alastor's secrets if he actually knew.
"Hm." Alastor hummed, outwardly expressing how he wanted to change the topic. Vox scoffed, and decided to take a different approach in starting conversation.
"So...whats up with those scars of yours?" He said in a casual tone, a smirk growing on his lips when he noticed how Alastor seemed to tense up. "They look bad. What caused them?"
"That is none of your business," the red haired demon snapped, his antlers growing slightly. Not wanting him to get himself hurt by going all out with his powers over something so small, Vox decided to leave it and not to pry. But he did notice how Alastor unconsciously grabbed the blanket and pulled it up higher to cover his arms.
"Velvette has fixed up your coat...I think she also changed it up a bit," Vox said. The Radio Demon's smile tightened, obviously annoyed at the fact that somebody had made adjustments to his iconic red coat.
"What changes has she made?" He said cautiously, eyes narrowed.
"Trust me, it looks way better. I don't even know how you manage to live with such an ugly outfit. Luckily Velvette actually has a sense of style," Vox mocked and headed towards the door. "Finish the bread and cheese. I know it tastes terrible but it'll help with the hunger. I can tell you're starving,"
Alastor's ears pinned back. Vox truly knows him too well.
