"Ah, Husker my good fellow! Is there anything you need?" Alastor questioned, his voice laced with irritation. Just moments ago, he was sitting on the window sill, watching the lives of pathetic demons while relaxing to some jazz. Before it was interrupted by the sound of knocking on his door.
"You know, you should really come downstairs. Charlie is blamin' herself for everything that happened a few days ago." Husk said.
"Well assure our dear Princess that it was certainly wasn't her fault." Alastor responded. "Now, as to why you're here?" he pressed, wanting to return to the peace of his room.
"Got you some food." Husk said, handing Alastor a tray of venison meat and bread. "You also got mail. I dunno who from." The cat demon side stepped to reveal a small parcel that was placed on the floor, with a slip of paper confirming it was for the deer.
"Why thank you, Husker! Now if you'll excuse me." Alastor placed the items on a nearby desk, waved his hand to say goodbye before slamming the door shut. Taking a small knife, he used it to cut open the tape and open up the box to reveal...
The item was shaped like a rectangle with curved edges, just ever so slightly bigger than Alastor's hand. One side was coloured a silvery white, meanwhile the other was coloured black and reflected Alastor's face like a mirror. A small rectangular button stood on the right side, meanwhile 2 more stood on the left.
At first, Alastor thought it might be a bomb. But he has certainly never seen a bomb so peculiar before. He shook it a few times and pressed the two buttons on the left in hopes of it doing something. Nothing worked. Eventually he decided the venison meat deserved more attention than this odd rectangular block, so he set the 'odd rectangular block' aside and focused on eating. He was hungry, after all.
Until the 'odd rectangular block' suddenly flashed and the once black side of it glowed white. Thats when realisation hit. This was one of the mini picture boxes that everyone used nowadays! Modern technology!
Immediately, Alastor got up, ready to use his green flames to demolish the entire thing before a familiar face popped up on the screen.
"Woah woah woah! Calm down! The phone wont bite!" Vox's voice bellowed through the screen, forcing Alastor's ears to pin down at the volume. "Oops sorry, was I too loud?" Vox lowered his voice to a murmur, but seeing the expression on the Radio demon's face he realised it was still too loud. "Okay Al- you see that button at the side? Press it."
Alastor was unsure whether to listen, but he decided not to be a stubborn prick today and did as he was told. When he pressed it however, the volume only increased.
"No no!" Vox groaned. "The other button! You've just increased the volume dumbass!"
"The other button...?" the deer mumbled, and pressed another button on the opposite side.
"No you-...! You just closed the phone! Oh my god..."
After perhaps an eternity, Alastor finally managed to get the volume to a manageable level. "Was it you who gifted me this...mini picture box?"
"Uh...yes. I was the one that gifted you this phone." Vox corrected.
"And why are you giving me this mini picture box?" the deer hissed in response.
"I thought it would make communication easier." the TV said through the screen, placing a hand to the back of his neck in uncertainty. "I mean, if you wish you can throw it away but I thought that...you know. Instead of teleporting all over the place, we can just call or text or something. Everything's already set up for you too so you don't have to worry about setting your name and all that..."
