Alastor was the first to wake up. He had been unconscious for 2 days, and was forced to stay in his bed for another 3. Boredom was a highlight of those 3 days. The other residents took turns to come and see how he was doing, asking questions about Lilith in the meantime — all of which he did not answer of course — or playing something as simple as card games.
"So, Husker." Alastor said. He was lying in bed, Angel and Husk in his room sat on chairs as the three played a simple game of cards. The same game in which Husk lost his soul the first time.
"What is it, Boss?" he paused. Calling Alastor 'boss' didn't fit the criteria anymore, since his soul is now free.
"If I win this game of poker do you think you can give me your soul back?"
Husk halted in his gameplay, so did Angel. "You can't be serious."
"I admit, you're certainly my most favourite servant. Save for Niffty of course, but I don't own her soul." Alastor shrugged.
"Absolutely not!"
The deer hummed in response. "Figured. Well, can I at least assume you won't be leaving the hotel anytime soon?"
Husk sighed. "No, Al. I won't leave. I admit, I've grown fond of the hotel and her pity project. I don't necessarily believe it will work, but one can hope."
"Plus I'm here," Angel smirked.
The cat demon scoffed, then returned his attention to Alastor. "But, thank you, Boss. For freeing my soul."
"It's not as if I wanted to. It was just a strategic play on my part." the deer shrugged.
"A strategic play to protect me and the hotel. That goes to show you at least have some heart left in you." Husk argued. "You're more caring than you like to admit. You sacrifice a lot just for the protection of others. Freeing me is one example...another would be Vox."
That pulled Alastor from his inner thoughts. "Oh yes. How is the old chum doing?"

Vox was still unconscious after 2 weeks. Valentino and Velvette barged inside the hotel several times throughout the 2nd week, demanding an explanation and making sure that their colleague was in good care and not being torn into pieces.
"Wait...he saved the Radio Demon?" Velvette stared at the Princess with a baffled expression on her face, Valentino sharing the same look of shock. They turned their head to Alastor who was nonchalantly swinging his cane around. "Him!?"
"This is what, the 2nd time!?" Valentino added.
"3rd." Angel corrected his boss.
"Well, me and my old pal managed to fix some bridges along the way, nothing too dramatic."
"Nothing too dramatic!?" Valentino repeated. "He's hated you for years now! Saving you the first time in the alleyway was a big enough shock. And you're saying he saved you 2 more times!?"
"If it wasn't for him, nobody would have been able to track my wavelengths and find me rotting away in that cabin." Alastor gritted his teeth. "And then he protected me from an explosion." He paused. "Angelic, explosion." he added.
"Angelic explosion!?" the other two Vees said at the same time.
"Okay! I think thats enough screaming and shouting for one day. How about you come visit again tomorrow, Mr Valentino and Miss Velvette!" Charlie laughed out awkwardly, pushing the two Vees out the door. "It's been a long day, and Alastor," she glared at him. "Is supposed to be resting."
