Blood. So much blood.
"Hide yourself, Emory"
"I want to go"
"No cara, please"
Darkness. Too much darkness.
Someone shouts.
Bang. Bang.
Gunshot. Scream. Dead eyes.
"Emory!!"
I wake up gasping for air, my throat dry. I try to breath but no air is coming through.
"Look at me" a warm hand cups my face and then my eyes connected with a set of whiskey brown.
"Breathe" this time I get some air in my lungs.
"Shh...I am here" he soothes me calmy. His body hugging mine, my face pressed against his chest.
"I saw a bad dream. But it felt so real" I whisper once my breathing got controlled.
"What did you see?" he asks, still rubbing my back.
"Blood. Too much blood. It was like shattered pieces. I can't even make sense of anything" I reply. I try to recall my dream but everything is blurred. My temples throbs with pain. I'm not sure if I want to open my eyes or not.
"Emory" he whispers, his voice both caring and commanding. He cups my face making me look straight into his eyes, "You are safe. I've got you".
Whenever I see him like this, acting with tenderness and care, I almost believe he can love me back. I know deep in my heart, there is still some hope there.
It's been a week since my confession and nothing changed. I never said those words again, afraid I'll push him away. He once asked me if I said that in heat of moment but I assured him it was real. After that he looks relieved.
"Take these medicines." He hands me the painkillers and I take it immediately. Then he tucks me back under the cover and spoons me from behind.
"Sleep." he murmurs and I trust him to keep me safe always.

The smell of brewing coffee and pastries permeates the air. I'm sitting at the local café, waiting for Shivika. She must be stuck in the traffic. The rush in this zone is insane.
I sip my cappuccino, looking outside the window. The weather is pleasant today.
"Hey Emory. Sorry, I got stuck in the traffic" Shivi says entering the café.
"Thought so" I smile, giving her hug.
"How long have you been waiting?" she asks taking her seat.
"Not too long. I just finished my coffee" I point towards my empty cup.
