"Cara, stop!" mom run to pick up the giggling little girl.
"Mami I'm hungry!" the little girl shrieks
The mother-daughter duo plop on the couch.
"Papi is making dinner." Mom says rubbing her belly
"Here are my girls" dad enters the room smiling
"Papi! I want food" the little girl whines in her father's arms.
"It's almost done cara" dad takes the seat next to mom.
"How is my baby boy" dad kisses mom's belly
"He is good" mom smile
"I'm going to be a big sister!!" the girl jumps.
They all sat around the table to eat their meals. The supper tasted better in the company of people they loved. The table wasn't just set with food but also with love and laughter.
Until the front door started banging and the little girl could hear the men welling outside.
"OPEN THE DOOR!!" a man yelled
Dad instantly left the table and took out a gun from one of the drawers in the kitchen. It looked like one of the toys of the boys the little girl played with.
"Lia, take her and hide" dad whispered loading his gun. 'So it's different from the toys the boys played with' the little girl thought.
"No! I'm coming with you" mom argued.
"They are dangerous Lia. Hide. Now" dad shouts. Dad never raised his voice.
"Come, cara" mom took her hand and hid behind the fire place where there was a secret door. Mom ushers her inside and made a sign to remain silent.
They could see Papi through the peephole. He opened the door and three big men came inside.
"What do you want?" dad asked
"We warned you Garcia. You messed up" a man snarl
Mom gasp when the man shouting points the gun on dad's forehead. The girl didn't know all the big adults say but she could feel what fear meant in that moment.
"Cara, stay here okay. Promise me." mom say hugging the little girl.
"Mami I'm scared." The little girl sniffles
"I know, cara. Don't move from here." mom kiss the girl before going out.
The little girl sees her mother running to his father and her father shouting something. The men laugh among themselves before one of them grab mom arm.
"Leave her." dad shouts pointing his gun
"Your time is over Garcia." The man sneers and suddenly a shot rang.
"NOOO!!!" mom screams seeing blood pouring out of dad chest.
The little girl tried to scream, to move, to do something, anything but her body won't move.
"Alexei! Amor please!!" mom cries kneeling beside dad's body. Dad tried to say something but it was inaudible.
Suddenly mom pick up the gun and shoot the man in the knee. The man cries out and bend down on the floor.
"You bitch" the other man sneers and then another shot ring. This time her mom belly was the target. She fell down on the floor beside dad. Their lifeless eyes staring at each other.
"Fuck! Leave!!" the men leave immediately.
The little girl, still frozen with her eyes wide and tears streaming down her cheek. She doesn't know how much time has passed until someone came. She could hear voices but not understand. She couldn't stop looking at the lifeless eyes of people who were laughing, what felt like, a few seconds ago.
"Christ! She is here" a man came inside and shook her but she couldn't stop looking at those two pair of eyes.
Someone called her name. But all she could hear was gunshots.
Everything is still playing in front of her eyes. Men. Gun. Shot. Blood. Mom. Dad. Death. She let out a heartbreaking scream before she collapsed. The darkness overtaking her body.
