In a crowded room a few short years ago
And sometimes there's no proof, you just know
You're always gonna be mine
We're gonna be
I'm gonna love you when our hair is turnin' gray
We'll have a cardboard box of photos of the life we've made
And you'll say, "Oh my, we really were timeless"
A week later, she was sat with Lando on the same sofa they'd filmed the interview on, watching back the finished documentary before it was due to be released at midnight.
It had come together surprisingly well. The cameras had hung around for the day after they'd filmed the interview part, and they'd edited in a lot of clips of her going about her day, with her talking over the top of them.
They'd added in footage from the tour, some clips from rehearsals that she had never even realised Alice had filmed and then there were shots from the day the cameras had spent following her and Lando around Monaco.
What had surprised her, watching it back, was how present Lando was in the whole thing. She'd done a documentary with Netflix a few years ago, a behind-the-scenes look at one of her previous tours, and Joe had completely refused to even be in the footage never mind sat in front of the camera. She'd had a massive argument with him about the fact they'd included a five-second clip of him hugging her as she came off stage.
This time though, Lando was right beside her the whole way. Hand in hand, the two of them walked down the street chatting about life in Monaco to the camera. There was footage of the two of them making dinner- well of Hannah making dinner and him getting in the way as per usual. He'd even joined in with the interview, talking about his struggles to cope with the extreme highs and lows that came with being a Formula One driver and how he'd learned to cope with it.
Nothing had been off limits really, Hannah had spoken about things she'd never expected to. They'd covered the topic of online hate, body image, the complete lack of privacy due to paparazzi, her relationship with Lando and her future plans.
The only thing she hadn't really spoken about was Cassie, other than mentioning the upcoming book release as the reason for Hannah breaking her silence.
It was a conscious decision she'd made with Alice in the run-up to the interview. She could have gone out there and exposed everything Cassie had done but in the end, it would've only made her look just as bad as her. So she skimmed over that part and when asked why the change of management had just said that a lot of things had changed in her life and while she was grateful for the support Cassie had given her early in her career, it had been time for a change as she moved forward.
"What do you think?" Lando asked as it came to an end, turning to look at her. He'd been almost as nervous as Hannah was to see the outcome. It was so hard to know with the random assortment of clips that had been shot what it might turn into, but he was impressed.
"It's good, right?" Hannah offered. "It's better than I thought it would be." It had been well edited, she had to give the team who worked on it their dues. She had been a bit worried it was going to be an hour of her sat rambling into the camera but they'd done an excellent job of it.
He nodded in agreement. He'd been so unsure about the whole thing, not knowing if it would send her back into a spiral, but he could see now it had been the right thing to do. She'd taken back control from Cassie by telling the story herself, and it for the first time since Alice had broken the news, he finally felt like he could breathe.
"I'll let Alice know it's good to go then." Hannah smiled, pulling out her phone and shooting off a text. "She did a really good job with all this, didn't she?"
