I said remember this moment
In the back of my mind
The time we stood with our shaking hands
The crowds in stands went wild
We were the kings and the queens
And they read off our names
The night you danced like you knew our lives
Would never be the same
You held your head like a hero
On a history book page
It was the end of a decade
But the start of an age
"How are we doing, ready to go?" Lando asked, leaning his head around the bathroom door of their hotel room. "You look good." He smirked, eyes running down the length of her dress.
"You don't look bad yourself, have I ever told you how much I like you in a tux." She grinned.
The two of them were in L.A. for the Grammys, Hannah was surprised to find out that The Tortured Poets Department had been nominated for album of the year. The two of them had flown out to attend the awards ceremony before they continued to Bahrain for Lando's pre-season testing.
"I do belive I have been told before I look good in a tux." He laughed, holding out a hand to her and using it to pull her towards him when she took it. "You excited?"
"I'm quite looking forward to it." She smiled. "I don't think I'll win, but it's quite nice to be dressed up and get out isn't it?"
It was a welcome distraction from the looming court date with Cassie.
"It is." He smiled. "Shall we go?"
His mind kept wandering back to the last time they'd been out like this, attending the premier of the tour movie. It felt like a lifetime ago, and in some ways perhaps it was. Hannah had been a nervous wreck the entire time, to the point he wasn't entirely sure they were going to make it there. But tonight, she was buzzing with excitement.
The two of them made their way up the red carpet, hand in hand, stopping for photos. They'd eventually made their way inside, finding their seats and waiting for the main event to begin.
As the drinks were passed around the two of them shared a look, Hannah swapping her champagne for an orange juice and Lando doing the same. He gave her leg a quick squeeze under the table, shooting her a reassuring smile.
She's pretty much sworn off alcohol after Christmas, a conscious effort to stop herself from using it to handle her stress. He'd done it to support her, although she hadn't asked.
The award show got underway, and Lando found himself fidgeting nervously as they reached the category Hannah had been nominated in.
"Will you sit still?" She leant over and whispered in his ear, an amused look on her face.
"I can't, I'm too nervous." He protested.
"Now you know how I feel watching you hurtling round the track in that death trap you call a car." She joked.
She almost missed the announcement because she was too busy looking at Lando, the words taking a moment to sink in as she realised they'd called out her name.
"Oh my god!" She squealed, jumping to her feet and looking around in complete disbelief.
"I knew you could do it." Lando grinned, also getting to his feet and wrapping his arms around her. "Go get your award!" He released her, kissing her quickly as she hurried off to the stage where they were waiting for her.
Her mind was racing as she made the short walk across the stage. She hadn't prepared anything to say, fully expecting to go home empty-handed, so she was now searching her brain for the words.
