OUR WORLD - HUNTER POV

...

I flopped onto my bed wiping away at my tear filled eyes in attempt to bury the sob that was attempting to crawl out my throat so it could roar. I sniffed just giving up at trying to wipe away the tears that fell, staring up at the ceiling. Some promise... It was all a lie.

A fucking lie.

"Liar."

...

I readied my bow, hand steady and sure, aiming directly at the target. Taking in a deep breath I leaned forward crunching a branch along the way making the animals head snap up and begin bounding away. I flexed my hand and released the arrow watching it whizz through the air in between the trees and pierce the target dead on. The stag dropped dead on the ground. Standing, I approached the creature kneeling beside it.
Guilt was a funny thing. Even funnier when it is not a person but an animal you grieve over, because it is such a different feeling despite it having the same core aspects.

"You have died so I may live," I began, "forgive me. Your sacrifice is honourable... I thank you," I murmured, a tear trailing down my face for the animal I had killed. I hated myself for it. Animals of any type were beautiful creatures, and deserved just as much right to live as any human. But... a man needs to eat.
I went to pull the arrow out but a growl halted me from doing so. My head snapped up defensively but I relaxed at the familiar face. The wolf I had known for many years whimpered, approaching timidly.

"Don't worry Boy. You won't go hungry tonight." I ripped the arrow out and Boy immediately chowed down on the dead animal.

"Save some for the rest of us," I smiled.

Boy froze its motions when a snap of a twig caught its attention. My smile dropped and I readied my bow tensely, a low growl coming from the wolf beside me.
I felt it before I saw it.

A cold wind brushed against my cheek, like death was saying hello, before the sharp item stumped against the tree behind me. Sighing, I lowered my bow.
