Javier's Pov
I've been in this meeting for hours now and it feels like my head could split it two from the migraine. I guess Juan noticed because he brought my pain relief pills which I thanked him for.
Soon the meeting was over, everything had went well as planned. I glanced at my wrist watch – it's few minutes to dinner time – I need to get home soon.
I got into the back seat of the car and we hit the road while I try to relax. I try to place my head on the headrest for a bit, the headache is still excruciating. The drive felt short to me, although it wasn't. Juan came down and opened the door for me.
“Thank you.” I said to him as I came down.
I made my way into the house, nobody seems to be in sight. I'll just go up to my room, have some warm bath and rest my head a little before I come down for dinner.
“You're back.”
I came to a halt when I heard Victoria’s voice behind me. I turn to see her standing a few feet away from me with a mischievous smile plastered to her face. I'm not really in the mood to chat around with her now.
“Yes, as you can see,” I said, turning to take my leave.
“How was it?” She said, stopping me.
“How was what?” I asked, completely clueless.
“The meeting?”
“Oh, it went well.” I said, not wanting to look at her.
To be honest, she still has some effect on me to an extent. I don't know if it's because I still love her or it's because of how beautiful she looks.
“Hmm.”
“How's the baby?” I asked, wanting to be polite. To be honest, I don't feel any sort of connection to that child. There has to be something wrong with the DNA test done.
If I didn't know Dr. Montes well, I'd say she forged that DNA test.
“Sergio.”
“Huh?”
“Our son's name's Sergio, and he's doing okay.” She said, putting up a smile.
What's her deal now? Whatever. I'm not in the mood.
“Good.” I said and made my way upstairs without wanting to hear anymore from her.
Entering my room, I almost came to a halt when I saw Daniella coming out from the bathroom while drying her wet hair against her towel. She hasn't noticed my presence yet. Seeing her reminded me of what happened this morning in my office – her reaction to my closeness is one sight I enjoyed.
I cleared my throat so she would be aware of my presence. She jumped a little, probably startled.
“You're back.” She said, not wanting to meet my gaze.
“Mhmm.” I said, pulling my coat and making my way to the bathroom for a warm bath.
After the bath, I changed into something casual and made my way out of the bathroom. I stopped on seeing Daniella still in front of the mirror and trying to dry her hair with the hair dryer. She stopped on seeing me, but soon continued with what she was doing.
My headache seem to not have subsided even after taking those drugs earlier, maybe I should take some more. I pick up the painkiller container from the drawer beside the bed and take a dose before putting it back.
