The boy doesn't even seem frightened by the unknown intruder he just continues crawling around the lake line. "I'm a bear."
Jennie perks a brow and let's go of the bark she was holding. "A bear?"
"Mmhm!" He huffs he picks a grape from a bush and throws it in his mouth.
"But bears hibernate during winter, silly." She giggles. The boys brow furrowed, "well I'm a winter bear, so I don't hibernate."
"Winter bear?"
"Yup that's me!"
They both giggle, "hey I wanna be a winter bear too."
"Sorry it has to be in your dna, and I don't think girls can be winter bears."
Jennie gasp and lightly pushes his shoulder. "They can!"
"No they can't."
"Can't too."
"Too can."
"You don't even make sense." Taehyung huffs.
"You don't make sense, you're just a dumb boy."
"And you look like a mandu."
Jennie gasp and places her small hands on her cheeks. "A-are you saying I'm fat?" Water fills in her eyes and Taehyung looks guilty. "You look like dumbo."
It's Taehyungs turn to gasp his small hands flying to his ears. "I don't have big ears! I'm not even an elephant. I'm a bear!" He pouts and turns away from Jennie. He goes back to collecting more berries as Jennie silently cries.
She watches him with sad eyes, why can't she be a bear too. Girls could be bears too right? She'd ask her mommy later.
She gets up quickly and dust of her jeans almost stumbling over the bark she had dropped from her hand. She dust of her pretty pink jacket also and pulls the hood over her head.
"Are you leaving?" Taehyung ask as he sees her fixing her winter gloves. Jennie nods stubborning and shoved her mitten covered hands into her jacket pocket.
"Wait!" Taehyungs tiny voice came, he shoved his small hands forward until it almost touched her nose, and in the palm of his hands red berries. "I'm sorry for being a meanie, I got these for you. You can't be a bear but you could be a ladybug instead."
Jennie grows redder at this in anger. "But I don't want to be a ladybug! I want to be something scary!"
"B-but lady bugs are scary," Taehyung whimpers looking up at her. "Th-they scare my mommy when she finds them in the house.."
Jennie still looks a bit displeased but her brows soften. "They do?"
Taehyung nods quickly "y-yeah. She jumps and yell and ask for my dad to kill it."
Jennie gasp "B-but I don't wanna be killed!" Jennie shrieks. "I don't wanna be killed." She repeats.
"But my daddy never kills it!" Taehyung adds, "he just picks it up and puts it in the backyard."
"I don't believe you." Jennie pout and takes a step back, eyes lingering on the berries.
"It's true winter bears don't lie, see," and as if it would prove his point he smiles wide and big.
Jennie giggles at this, "okayyy." She holds her hands out for Taehyung to pour the berries in them. "Thank you winterbear."
