CHAPTER 24

The drums start beating in a rhythm signifying the start of the dance. Rhaelys faces Vaemon and they walk to the floor. They bow toward each other and start dancing the dance of the dragon.

They smile at each other. Laenor and Rhaenyra joins. They continued dancing together until they switch partners, Rhaelys now dancing with Laenor. Rhaelys giggles as Laenor sends her a subtle wink.

The dance ended and then everyone applauded and started joining in. They all start dancing. There speed of the music picks up.

Rhaelys was enjoying herself. She had not smiled this much since her mother died. They switched partners once again. Rhaelys was now dancing with Jason Lannister, she rolled her eyes on the inside to hide her annoyance.

"You picked a fine man princess."

Rhaelys smiled awkwardly. "Thank you,my lord"

"But I have to ask, why a son of a second son?"

Rhaelys sighs. "I do not answer to you about my decisions my lord."

Jason looked shocked at her reply but before he could retort Daemon approached them. Jason and Rhaelys stopped dancing and face Daemon.

"May I cut in?" Daemon says looking at Jason. Jason looks to Rhaelys and then back at Daemon.

"Of course." Jason says. He bows his head to Rhaelys and Daemon and leaves them. Rhaelys glares at his retreating figure.

"Is this what you want?" Daemon asks her.

"Why do you care?"

"I do care,a lot actually."Rhaelys was shocked that Daemon had said that but didn't believe him.

"Don't lie."

"He will bore you senseless."

"He might, but I will always be his first choice. I won't be second to anyone. He chose me."

"Did he? Did he really? Or was he following commands?"

"Then marry me." Choose me, pick me she wanted to say but didn't. "Is that not what you want? Take me to Dragonstone and make me your wife. I know you are armed, cut through the Kingsguard and wed me."

Daemon looked at her. He wanted to take her, gods know he did, but he couldn't.

He stepped back. Rhaelys scoffed and shakes her head. She sent him a glare. She took a step back as well. "Of course you won't. Coward." She turns to leave when a shout broke out.

Rhaelys turns around, confused and people started rushing around her. Pushing and pulling each other. Rhaelys pushed through some of them as she starts to look for Vaemon. "Vaemon."She shouts.

Rhaelys stands still looking to see if she could spot him. A man pushes against her causing her to loose her footing and fall to the ground. The people around her didn't notice and trampled all over her trying to get away from the altercation that was happening.

Rhaelys lays on the ground and groans are let out as people stepped on her hands and head. She was getting lightheaded. She tries getting up but to no avail,she was just pushed down again. Her head hit the ground with a thud, causing her lip to split and start to bleed, her eyes stinging with tears.

Rhaelys starts to shout for Vaemon but no one hears or seems to notice her.

Suddenly everything went silent. Rhaelys breathes heavily on the floor ,tears streaming down her face, blood trailing down her head and bruises forming on her arms and legs.
