After escaping from Duke's treacherous family, Leeway and Mike pressed on for two more grueling days, eventually finding themselves in the middle of a vast, eerie forest. The dense foliage and towering trees created a labyrinth, making it feel as though they had been wandering for an eternity.
"Bruh, I can't believe those people worked for that crazy man; they were so nice," Mike said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"They were just trying to make us drop our guard, which we did, and it will never happen again," Leeway replied, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.
"I'll drop my guard for some more of that good soup," Mike said, licking his lips at the memory.
"If you're hungry, eat the fruit we have with us," Leeway suggested, tossing Mike an apple.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the bushes behind them.
"What was that?" Leeway asked, his hand moving instinctively to his Sikei.
"No idea, but it came from over there," Mike said, pointing to the bush.
Leeway picked up a rock and hurled it at the bush, causing a large wolf to leap out, startling them both.
"Ah shoot, that's a big dog," Mike exclaimed.
"That's no dog," Leeway corrected, watching the wolf warily.
The wolf stared at them for a moment before darting off deeper into the forest.
"Okay, let's not go that way," Mike said, turning in the opposite direction.
"Yep, sounds about right," Leeway agreed.
Unbeknownst to them, the wolf ran through the forest, under a log, and into a hidden cave where a strange man awaited.
"So, they have made their way here," the man said, his voice echoing in the cavern.
The wolf barked in response.
"And he still has the sword with him; good. They won't leave my territory alive. This is where those boys will take their last breath," the man declared, a sinister smile spreading across his face.
Back in the forest, Leeway walked with his eyes closed, trying to focus.
"Leeway, open your damn eyes," Mike said, exasperated.
"Ouch," Leeway muttered after bumping into a tree. "I can't; I'm trying to learn something."
"What are you trying to learn that Sensei Dai hasn't taught us?" Mike asked.
"I told you already; presence sense," Leeway replied.
"That's nonsense. If something like that existed, I'm pretty sure Sensei would have taught us," Mike argued.
"Unless he couldn't or didn't know it was a thing," Leeway suggested.
"We're talking about Sensei Dai here; the man lives and breathes everything martial arts," Mike countered.
"Well, what if this is more than martial arts?" Leeway pondered.
As soon as Leeway finished speaking, he fell into a hidden ground trap.
"See? What did I tell you? Open your eyes," Mike said, looking around for something to help.
"Yeah, whatever, find something to help me up," Leeway called out from the pit.
"Okay," Mike said.
Suddenly, Mike was tackled to the ground.
"Mike!? What was that?" Leeway shouted.
