After the incident at the old town, Mike and Leeway continued their journey to meet the spiritual man Sensei Dai had told them about. They managed to avoid many fights and obstacles thanks to the identities they had adopted as the legendary ninjas. However, they took down anyone who stood in their way if necessary. They were finally close to their destination, needing only to make it through Shadow City.

Meanwhile, back at Master Rai's stronghold, tensions were running high.

"You're telling me Duke figured out that boy is the damn monk from long ago, and the other boy is half-android. They whooped you and made it out of the forest, and no one has spotted them since?" Master Rai said, his voice filled with barely contained fury.

"No, sir. They were spotted by some bounty hunters afterward, but they lost them in a small town," Ōkami reported, trying to keep his composure.

"I'm not liking what I'm hearing, Ōkami," Master Rai said, his anger boiling.

"They did go back, sir, but they were stopped by these ninjas," Ōkami added.

"What ninjas?" Master Rai demanded.

"At the village, there were these ninjas in black and a ninja in brown. One of the men stationed there took this picture," Ōkami said, handing over the photo.

Master Rai grabbed the picture, scrutinizing every detail. "Look there at the black ninja. He has the same sword as that damn monk. Those aren't legends; they're hoaxes, frauds. When was the last time those fake legends were spotted?"

"I don't know if those ninjas are really just the dojo boys. They should have reached Shadow City by now, depending on where they're headed," Ōkami replied.

"Is that so? I have one of my elites stationed there on a mission. I'll give them a call," Master Rai said, moving toward the dark corner of his chambers, where a man hung in chains.

"You hear that, Dai? Your students have become legends, and now they're gonna die like one," Master Rai taunted.

In Shadow City, Mike and Leeway were trying to navigate through the labyrinthine streets but found themselves lost in the overwhelming chaos of the city.

"I can't believe we got lost," Mike said, exasperated.

"I can. This whole place is like a maze," Leeway replied, sensing something off. "Hold on, Mike, something's not right."

"What do you mean?" Mike asked.

"It feels like we're being watched," Leeway said, his senses heightened.

"Use your presence sense or something," Mike suggested.

"What do you think I'm doing? Let's go put on our hoods," Leeway said.

They changed into their ninja outfits in a darkened alleyway, emerging ready to engage in combat if necessary.

"We need to get off the streets," Leeway said.

"You see how tall these buildings are? We aren't real ninjas; now that's impossible," Mike said.

Leeway spotted someone on the roof, looking at them as if they knew who they were. "Mike, look up behind you."

As Mike turned around, the person was gone. "What are you on about, Leeway?"

"Wait, what? There was a person just there; I sensed and saw them," Leeway insisted.

"Okay, and where are they now?" Mike asked.

"I don't know. We need to hurry up and get out of this city," Leeway urged.
