The next day, Harry saw Professor McGonagall escorting Neville Longbottom out of Hogwarts, likely to meet his grandmother or purchase a new wand. He wasn't sure, but he wasn't worried either. Nonetheless, Harry admired Professor McGonagall for her devotion to her students. She was one of the few good teachers Harry had ever known. Other teachers should undoubtedly take notes from her.
Within a week, word that Neville Longbottom had become a promising young wizard had briefly surpassed Harry Potter as the most talked-about topic at Hogwarts. It was unbelievable how quickly a lad like Longbottom, who had practically failed at all of his spells, could improve.
But somehow, the gossip stream swiftly reverted to Harry Potter. The news that Neville Longbottom's change was due to Harry Potter circulated across Hogwarts. As for the reason of it, well, Neville Longbottom was the one who started it.
"All thanks to Harry Potter." Neville replied, when he received questions from others about why he was improving so rapidly. "He discovered my difficulty was in my wand, and it was he who aided me in resolving it."
And when the other students told him they couldn't believe it, because Harry was cold and unapproachable, Neville just shook his head gently and explained:
"He is actually a very kind person. Although he looked cold, he patiently listened to my situation, and instantly found a method to help me. I guess his attitude depends on the problem you desire to approach. As long as you come to seek him for the sake of learning and not for other purposes, then I believe Harry will not refuse you."
As if Neville Longbottom was not convincing enough, even Susan Bones, who was involved in it, asserted:
"He is a wonderful person. Smart but not arrogant, and willing to help others."
Perhaps Bones exaggerated, but no one suspected her, since she was a Hufflepuff student herself. Hufflepuff has a reputation for being friendly and approachable, so they're certainly trustworthy when it comes to that. Moreover, people volunteered to believe that Harry Potter - the savior of the wizarding world - was a kind person, rather than believing him to be a cold-hearted person.
Meanwhile, the main subject of the gossip - Harry Potter - was completely oblivious to his popularity. He was still busy with the presents from main mission #3, and had absolutely no free time to care about such things.
The pocket garden was a good thing. It worked similarly to the pocket library Harry received earlier, but it wasn't as large as the library and was just as modest in size as a real small garden. But Harry still liked it. He planted in it the herbs he liked, mainly the ones used in making potions. Unfortunately they weren't all that rare, as Harry had taken them out of the first-year greenhouse. He really didn't have a choice, because he was only an eleven-year-old child after all. He wasn't able to find rare plants. Well, he remembered that there seemed to be a shop in Diagon Alley that sold varieties of plants. But he was at Hogwarts, and couldn't get there. At Hogwarts there seemed to be a ward or a spell to prevent people from apparate - or teleport as Harry used to call it.
But that was not a big deal, as Harry discovered another use of the pocket garden, that it would send a notification to Harry if there were plants inside that needed tending. Furthermore, because it is located in an enclosed space, the plants Harry grows inside will not be affected by pests or bad weather.
He secretly felt that the garden had other functions that he hadn't discovered yet, but he was in no hurry. Again, he was only eleven years old, and he had a lot of other things to take care of.
One of those things included practicing the things mentioned in the 'Space & Time Vol 1: Origin of Magic' book he received before going to Hogwarts. During this time, he has made some progress, and has mastered a few slightly more complex spells. Of course, it was still quite difficult, and Harry's failure rate only increased, not decreased, but he wasn't too discouraged. Anyway, in the book it is mentioned that space & time magic is an extremely difficult field and not many people are really knowledgeable and good at it. The fact that Harry was able to use some of the spells in it in such a short amount of time proved that he was gifted.
