"You nervous?" Alex asked. He was focused on the road and not looking at me. We were in the truck.

"Are you?" I replied. I felt a tingling sensation sliding down the back of my spine. I shivered.

"I asked you first," he said without sounding rude. He was expressionless.

Silence.

I didn't reply.

We both knew the answer anyway. We just didn't want to admit it.

Yes. Of course.

I changed the subject.

"It's quite rainy today," I remarked.

I swallowed.

"Hmm." He was pondering. He was tapping the steering wheel.

08:28

Silence.

Well this is awkward.

I looked out the car seat window to distract myself. I took in the whole scene.

The wind was howling. Rain falling down like diamonds. The leaves scattered on the sidewalk. The sun hidden behind the big gloomy boulders of clouds.

I closed my eyes and enjoyed the drizzling rain's calming sound.

I was stuck in my daydream until the engine turned off and the car stopped.

We're here.
