Preliminaries

Y/n's pov:

Everyone who passed the exam was standing in the hall with the presence of hokage and some chunins and jounins. The number of students who applied for exam has been reduced to less then a quarter.

The fun fact was that all ten rookies passed both first and second part of the exam.

Everyone was standing with their teams in a row. I was the only one standing alone. This surely grabbed the attention of the other jounin teachers. I was feeling too many gazes on me. I standed lazily with my hands behind my head. I am very tired right now. I just wanna go home and relax.

And I don't know who gave entery to aya. His gaze was the hardest no almost equal to kakashi's.

I looked at the other genins who passed. There were total 25 genin who passed the second exam. They all were top elites. Gaara of the sand, rock lee, neji hyuga, sasuke uchiha. I sigh just by feeling the tough competition.

I looked at sasuke. He was having a hard time controlling the thing on his neck, which I later learned is a curse mark. He is holding his neck in pain.

"Comgratulations everyone on passing the second exam. Now lord hokage will tell you the details of the third exam." anko turned toward hokage. The hokage stepped up from his place.

"I congratualte you all onoassing the exam. You have worked hard to get here. But now I will tell you the real meaning of chunin exam." his words made genins to whisper among themselves. The real meaning behind the exam huh!

"As you know all the neighbouring nations once struggled for power and to spread their territories. They fough many battles with their lives on the line to save the glory of their respective village." his words confused the genins more. If only they had read history about nations they wouldn't be so confused right now. I scoffed at their foolishness.

"What does that have to do with this exam?" kiba asked the hokage.

"The nations selected one place to fight with their shinobies. That's how chunin exam was made. It was made to balance the power between villages. Many feudral lords will be invited to the third part of the exam as the guests. After watching your skills, they decide which village they wanna hire shinobi from. Basically, you represent the power of your village." huh that make sense.

"Then why we call them allied nations?" tenten asked.

" That's only a name given to not set wrong idea in your heads." after hokage's long speech, I let out a loud yawn. I actually stopped listening after that.

Before the hokage could say anything further, another chunin appeared in front of him.

"I am sorry to disturb you lord hokage, I am hayate. I am the judge of preliminary. I would like to conduct it now."

"Do as you please." hokage said to the newcomer. His voice is hoarse. I understand why.

He turned around and his face came into my view. He had bags under his eyes. His face was looking like he hadn't eaten in days.

"Alright students. I will judge your preliminaries." as soon as.the word preliminaries left his mouth, all genins bursted into whines. I couldn't help but laugh at the scene.

"But why is a preliminaries being held at the first place?" this time shikamaru complained. The most lazy person, who wouldn't bait an eye even if the whole world is on fire, complained.

" As lord hokage said earlier, many feudral lords will be watching the finals. We can't waste time on useless fights." he would cough everytime he spoke a few words. His health seems to be in bad shape.
