The forest remained silent until late at night when another cunning animal came out to hunt for food. But not before being hunted and devoured by the helpless grizzly bear that threatened the lives of everyone in that place.

All prey were hiding, trying to find food where there was none, in order not to be seen by the bear. They were terrified of it because not even a soldier, who had recently passed by, had managed to defeat it. He ended up being just another snack for that beast.

That morning, the bear went out to hunt again. It had had a snack that wasn't enough to satisfy it, so it began to roam its territory as it normally did.

The bear traveled a long way to find prey; sometimes it caught fish if it couldn't find much else. But it had liked the taste of that canine it had eaten, so it began to look for a way to eat another one.

It tried to sniff out the path the canine had taken, but to its bad luck, these tracks were already gone. After roaming around for a while, it got tired and simply lay down on the lush grass.

This forest he had chosen as his home, his territory, and his kingdom. He knew many inhabited it, but out of fear of being hunted, no one showed themselves. The bear knew that if things continued like this, sooner or later it would run out of food.

"What a boring life..." Thought the bear, scratching its belly.

But not far from where it was, there was a fallen log. And inside it, a squirrel, who saw how the predator had fallen asleep near its hiding place.

The squirrel panicked. It tried to hide while lying inside the tree hollow, trying to calm its breathing. It had lived there for a long time, and the bear had never stayed to rest nearby.

Today was the day when it was going to go out to collect food supplies to store for the next few days. It had to do it as soon as possible, or other squirrels and rodents would steal them before him.

It needed a distraction. Something to drive the bear away so it could escape without being seen.

But what could it do?

"I don't know how, but I'm alive!"

Thought a young canine, who had recently been devoured by the jaws of a great predator, the same bear that guarded the entire forest for itself alone.

That canine was none other than Tenma.

Who couldn't breathe properly, but could see the sky clearly.

"Whoa... it's the first time I've taken the time to look at the sky."

He let out a sigh, trying to get up properly. He tried to stand up, but he didn't have enough strength. Feeling confused, he tried to see his body.

That was when he realized his reality.

He only had half of his body regenerated!

"Calm down!" Thought the canine, trying to focus on the fact that he was still alive at least.

The bear wasn't around, that was good news. But even if it appeared, he could only escape on his two front legs, crawling.

His intestines were protruding, but the pain was bearable. The effect of regeneration might provide some kind of anesthesia.

Now, he just had to find a hiding place to stay until he could fully regenerate.

He would think later about how the heck he was still alive. For now, survival.

He observed and discovered, searching for the nearest hiding place. Eventually, he found an excellent one.

"That's it! I'll hide in that fallen tree!"

Unbeknownst to them, the bear, the squirrel, and the half-split dog were not too far from each other. Unfortunately for Tenma, he wouldn't see the bear in time.
