Our Brave Little Firefighter Hot shot and BFFS VS Brain Tumor Fire

Chapter 11

Hot shot woke up in the hospital and was still getting his chemotherapy sessions. Hot shot was also getting feedings from his feeding tube. Hot shot soon saw the hospital was decorated for Christmas. A lot of fun stuff was going on. Hot shot painted an ornament with an art therapist named James. "That looks very good Hot shot," James said.

"Thanks," Hot shot said. He was feeling pretty good about it too. Hot shot was going to have surgery once again very soon. Hot shot was a little nervous about it. But he was ready to be brave about it. The surgery wasn't until next month so just this month was chemotherapy. Then Hot shot would return to chemotherapy in February after his surgery in January. 

Hot shot was spending time with his friends in the hospital. They would sometimes go into each others rooms to hang out. Other times they would sit together in the Chic-fil-a to have lunch. They would also go to the build a bear and hang out.

Hot shot got a couple of toys from the build a bear. Hot shot also got things from the gift shop too. Hot shot was finding things that he enjoyed about the hospital. But there were things he still didn't enjoy such as the lumbar punctures. 

Hot shot found sometimes things could be boring in the hospital too. Today Hot shot saw Skylar his child life specialist. "Hot shot qualifies for a wish from make a wish," Skylar said.

"A wish?" Hot shot asked.

"I think that would be good for Hot shot," Quickshadow said. 

"It will give him something to look forward too," Heatwave said.

A few days later Hot shot met with a wish coordinator named Hallie. "Hello Hot shot I am Hallie I am a wish coordinator," Hallie said. "There are five wish categories, I wish to go, I wish to be, I wish to meet, I wish to have and I wish give," she said. "I wish to go is to go some place you always wanted to go," she said. "I wish to be is be something you always wanted to be," she said. "I wish to meet is to meet someone you always wanted to meet who is living, it can be someone you really admire too," she said. "I wish to have is to have something you really want," she said. "I wish to give is to give back to a cause or a place you care about," she said.

Hot shot thought about it for a while and knew what he wanted. "I wish for a Dalmatian puppy," Hot shot said.

"I thought that is what he would wish for," Heatwave said. "He has been wanting a Dalmatian puppy since he was three," he said.

"That's true," Quickshadow said. 

"I have no problem with it," Dr. Zhao said. "Pets can be very healing," she said. "But I want to wait a while until Hot shot is fully recovered for both surgeries to remove the remain tumor and the tumor that has spread to another part of the brain," she said. "Which will be about five months," she said.

"Okay then we will get it all sorted out," Hallie said.

"Oh boy my own puppy," Hot shot said.

"I am glad you are looking forward to it," Hallie said.

Hot shot was so happy about this. Hot shot hoped all was going to go well and everything was going to be alright. 

Hot shot's parents came over to the hospital to spend Christmas day with him. They brought presents from friends and family that were meant for Hot shot and them so they could all open them together. That made Hot shot very happy. 

Hot shot had a lot of fun opening the presents. Hot shot was glad to spend time with his family too. Hot shot was a very happy child. Then Hot shot got to see the new year start in his hospital room.

Then on January 2nd Hot shot was taken in for his surgery. Hot shot was ready to be brave. Hot shot didn't have any breakfast at all. Hot shot's stomach had to be empty before surgery. Hot shot was ready to be very brave. Hot shot was made to fall asleep with the special medicine air. Hot shot chose the smell of bubble gum this time. 

Hot shot was soon sleeping and Dr. Hansen went right to work at removing the remainder of the tumor in the cerebellum. Then he closed up Hot shot's head and wrapped a bandage around his head. Hot shot woke up in the ICU unit. 

Hot shot saw his parents and smiled at them. "Hi mummy and daddy," Hot shot said.

"Hot shot we are so proud of you," Quickshadow said.

"You did well son," Heatwave said.

Hot shot was recovering well from his surgery and was getting therapy to help get strong again. Hot shot was getting back to the way he was before his surgery. Hot shot was doing very well and he was proud of himself too. Hot shot was having no problems with this surgery either. "You are doing really well Hot shot," Dr. Acord said. "You seem to have no neurological affects that are bad from the surgery, you are very lucky," she said.

Hot shot was happy to hear that. Hot shot was doing well with how things were going. Hot shot was very proud of himself too.

Hot shot's January was spent with therapy and rest. Then a couple of weeks in to February Hot shot started up Chemotherapy again. Hot shot also needed more blood transfusions as well. As long as he was getting chemotherapy he was going to need the blood transfusions to get his blood counts back up. 

Hot shot saw Dr. Zhao coming at the end of February as Hot shot and his family were getting ready to go home. "I will see you in April for another surgery Hot shot, then we will keep doing chemotherapy until it looks like the tumor won't come back," she said. "That might take a few months," she said.

"Okay," Hot shot said. "I am going to be very brave," he said.

"I know you will," Dr. Zhao said. "You are still going to have to keep coming for you chemotherapy infusions for five days every two weeks," she said. "Many of them can be done at the infusion center as out patient because your infusions take about 4 hours each, so you can go home after they are done," she said. "But there will still be times when you need to stay at the hospital still like for you next surgery," she said. "During those times we will do our best to make you feel at home," she told him.

"Okay," Hot shot said.

Hot shot soon headed home with his parents. Hot shot was so happy to be home with his parents. Hot shot missed his bed and room very much. Hot shot and his parents put some of the things he got in the hospital in his room. They washed some of the clothes in the go back and repacked to to make sure it was ready to go in case of an emergency. Hot shot was happy to home after a long time away.

He got settled into his room and began to relax. It was nice and his parents ordered Pizza for dinner and they watched movies and popped popcorn. They were so happy that Hot shot was home for a while. Now Hot shot could rest and relax at home for a while. But next week he had more chemotherapy and he was ready for it too.
