I am a writer.

It is my job to see the beauty in everything,
And to find the best-suited phrases to
Articulate it,
But you are a challenge.
With others I can see the light in their
Eyes and the dance in their step.
I can partake in the depth of their thinking
And the clarity of their ideas.
I can compliment the wild tangles of their curls
Or the flawlessness of their lips.
I can bask in the richness of their company and
The thrall of their experiences,
But with you I struggle to form a simple
Word.
No matter how I parse it,
I can't tell you how when you
Smile my heart
Skips a beat,
Or how your laugh makes me vibrate to my bones.
No, I can't even say how
You've captured the sky in your eyes,
Because those better than I have tried.
