Celestial Bodies

I will tell you here, my friends,
A tale of star crossed lovers;
one pale and bright,
One brash and fair. They lived
To outshine the sky, but rarely could meet.
Each night the sun would douse it's holy
Rays,
Extinguish itself to make way for its lover.
Each day the cold moon would drown itself
In sorrow to resurrect its eternal partner.
Its final gift to the moon will be the sun's spark,
Allowing the dark to be lit with their union.
In return, the moon pulls the waters of our
Earth to dazzle all creatures with the sun's refracted rays.
Their rare coupling blinds all who dare
Observe their intimacy,
Impressing their passion onto any and all witnesses,
So take care when gazing upon their embrace.
Not even a thousand seas could contain
The tears shed for them.
Not even ten thousand years could encompass
Their reluctance to be apart.
Their love knew no bounds but those dictated by their
Predetermined paths.
Lacking even voices to disclose their love, it is left to us,
Dear friends,
To make this a legacy that never dies.
Tell your daughters, your mothers,
The entirety of your household and the world beyond
Why the mien of an eclipse is so
Painful
To look upon.
