The Colors Are Important
Red is the color of heat. The warmth you see when you press on closed eyelids, and the fog that will tinge the edges of an aggravating face. It is the burning of desire you feel between your shoulder blades, and the feeling of a lover's lips on your skin.
Orange is the overlooked color. It is the joy of costumes on halloween, and the candy-filled smiles of jack-o-lanterns. It is the sunset you watch with the love of your life, and the center of a hearth. And though orange is the color you would never wear, it is beautiful.
Yellow is the color of happiness. The sunlight hitting your face on a spring day, and the presence of a friend in your favorite spot. It is the reading of a book by the soft candlelight on a starry evening, and the sweetness of a ringing laugh.
Green is the color of life. It is the thrum of motion through the trees, and the whooshing of wind through a grassy field. It is the bitterness of a lime, and the cool relief of watermelon on a hot summer day. It is a bright spring after a cold winter, and the smell of moss growing up through rotting logs.
Blue is the color of mood. It is the deepest waters in the greatest ocean, and the stars arriving at twilight. It is the sky on a clear day, and the rain that chases it away. It is whispered words over a pillow in the middle of the night, and the melancholy of never hearing that voice again. Blue is sadness, but It is my happiness.
Black is the color of contradiction. It is the darkness that steals away your vision, and that which allows you to realize the light. It is the soft embrace of your bed, but also the beasts that come to steal you from it. It is the darkest depths of a pit, as well as the midnight sky. It is that which we fear most, but also what we strive to accept.
