I spent the whole night in the gardens. Crying. f*cking crying. I dont know what came over me, and i feel like the most useless and terrible person ever. This is my fault. It's almost 3 pm now, and only now did i realise how long it's passed. I missed the faculty meeting, but i couldn't care less. I exit the gardens and drag myself to city hall to apologise to Sera. I enter her office and see her angry face.
"Look- Sera Im sorry." I start.
"Cut it Adam. There's no turning back now." She cuts through me.
She then tells me of Melody's plan and how it got through with the faculty.
"What the hell? There's no way you let her do that." I complain.
"It was not my decision to make. Her power exceeds mine." Sera says in the most sh!tty tone ever. "Well now her deal is done, and you and your cursed army will have to teach her to fight so she can go."
I stare at Sera in disbelief.
"Wh-"
Without another word, she whisks me out of her office. What the f*ck?
It's a good thing i have my mask on because right now i look like absolute sh!t. I drag myself home and to my surprise nobody is there. I quickly clean myself up and rush to the training facility. As expected, Melody is there. Lute is beside her, with a strange looking weapon in her hands. She's wearing her mask, but i can tell she has a hurt look inside it. Melody sees me and gives me a nod, nothing else. Im glad that she isn't 100% mad at me right now, but i don't dare provoke her. I return the nod and go to my office upstairs. About 20 minutes later I hear a knock on my door.
"Come in"
It's Lute.
"Sir- You know what happened, right?"
I nod at her for her to continue.
"Well Melody can't carry a spear or a sword around, its too bulky for her, so i found these in the weapons closet."
She holds out the strange weapon from just now. It's a needle-like thing. (A bit like Yor's needles from Spyxfamily) Then i recognize it. It's a prototype i made more than 10 years ago, for exorcists. However, none of them could master its use so it was put away.
"Have you tested Melody's skills yet?" I ask.
"Yes sir, she has great stamina, a fair amount of strength and agility and impeccable aim." Lute answers.
"Great, then, she can use these. They're perfect! They do large damage, aren't bulky and should be used by someone with great aim." I say.
Lute says nothing, then leaves the room after nodding in understanding.
I think about the needles. The hellspawn are resilient, and hard to kill. Even with Melody's skill she can't kill them with one hit. Maybe i can try out that mechanism i made a long time ago, for the spears. The mechanism is designed to inject poison into the victims body and paralyze them long enough for the attacker to deal the final hit. I think about it and get to work. By the end of the week, Ive created the perfect weapon for Melody to wield.
